PS4 Dead Optical Disc Drive?

Just to be safe, i recommend reinstalling 8.03 fw through safe mode to avoid any possible corruption. And yes, you either have to wait for new exploit or get your BD drive fixed.

I tried boot it and now boot normally... WTF?

I have checked S.M.A.R.T and HDD is ok.

Update via Safe Mode from USB, end with the same result. SU-42118-6 and based on dev wiki it covering my case, so I don't see a reason for initialize option as it also writing firmware which have such bomb design as update package. Updating from USB also freezing PS4 and hard power off, ends with the same results: no booting, until second try... Which I completely doesn't understand.

So it would be best now to wait for kexploit for 8.03 and praying to God that licenses don't need to be refresh after each quarter of year been offline as I heard...
There are many great services in Poland. You probably have to find any nearest and sort hardware problem with your bdrom. Just advise don't take me serious.

thus far, I believe the nobd update method only works up to 6.72. I think it involves installing a pkg, then installing the update, but I haven't really looked into it.

I kinda got the skivvy on no bd installs. it only works on certain firmware versions, possibly due to unreliability. and, it also only installs to certain versions. theoretically, it should work on any firmware, it's just the unreliability of latter firmwares that proves to be a problem. it's hard coded in, since it might brick the system on unreliable firmware. the latter the firmware, the more unreliable it is.
