Downloading game update HEN vs CFW versions

i have this wonderful PS3Tools from aldostools. This way i would like to thank him so much for developing and sharing it to the community :)

I am on the newest HFW with HEN (so not a CFW) and i want to download game updates.
I type in the title ID and depending on the chosen CFW version it finds update data or does not find, sometimes without comments, sometimes there is comment "no CFW compatible".

How do i know which set of update data will be compatible with my HEN? do i have to search for the "no CFW compatible" comment next to them?

Also what is the difference between "No compatible" and "no CFW compatible"? because in the search results the comment (actually the status) next to the folder states "no CFW compatible" and comments (status) next to individual update files say "no compatible". its confusing which can i use for HAN.

And what does the "Auto fix" (games which require FW3.60) mean? how do i know if i must fix if its not CFW but HAN?

I would be grateful for your help. Thank you

Just update the games from the PS3. The update servers have nothing to do with getting a ban and it's easier. Anything resigned with 4.21+ keys will not work. It would have to be signed with 3.55 keys. So there is no benefit of grabbing them and installing them as you can do it from the system effortlessly.

If you're not using an old version of HEN/CFW, I would recommend just grabbing the updates from Aldo's site: http://ps3.aldostools.org/updates.html. The site is basically a database to get update packages directly from S#ny's servers. You can actually get game update links yourself: https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/Online_Connections#Game_Updating_Procedure.

There is a benefit. I am a kind of worrying human. I know the update files will be available long years to come but not forever. And once PS3 games will be retro games just like SNES etc. And i want to have all the game updates available for my owned games 10+ years from now offline.

just download the list from @jcorrea to have all of them or at least close to it. I did, and I have a data limit, so it took 3 months. all updates are about 1.25TBs for (USA, Europe, and Japan, I think). not too big, but large enough if you also have a data limit.

thank you. but why does aldostools site shows only 1 piece of update file everywhere? some games have several update files available not just one. And in order for it to work all the update files have to be installed.

that I don't know. some games only require the latest while others require every update. it's determined by the xml file, what the system downloads, I think.

I still have the update version 4.txt:

edit: I don't know if that's all of them (some may have been standalone in the thread, which I think was about missing updates after sony was going to close the store).

@jcorrea , how many pkg files should there be? with jdownloader, I'm getting a download error on random pkg files, and I think it might be the .hip files. I know what .his is for, but what about .hip? it's downloaded none of them.

It has 7086 ".pkg" files. About the ".hip", it's used to show what have changed in that revision, it's not necessary for anything, but as it's referenced by the some xml's, I kept them on list.

I get you want to preserve the games and updates. That is why once I get the update I just make my ISO with the update already applied. Ensuring my disc never get damaged and ensuring I will have the most up to date version. I don't have to poke around looking for updates from external sources. Quick painless and easy.

for some reason, I can only download 7077 of them. 9 of them error for some reason, and I don't know which ones are doing it.

They have updates with the same pkg name, but in a different url (DRM free). Probably these updates are the problem.
