PS5 Dual sense controller

Looks like they finally wised up and made their controller more like the xbox controller. I always preferred the xbox's controller over playstation's.

It would be cool if they made the USB-C port a bit more recessed though, would prevent cables from being loose over time.

Other than that, the controller looks awesome! I really like the dual-tone theme that's going on. Can't wait to see one in person.

Lol, i never thought they was going to change the name of it, but yeah... it makes sense (pun intended)
The sufix "shock" of all the previous "dualshocks" was because te rumble motors, but now they removed the motors it could not be named dualshock anymore... it needs to be dual-something
dualshock <--- not valid
dualfeedback <--- wut ?
dualhaptic <--- wtf
dualsense <--- bingo !

The ps5 controller doesnt look even close to xbox series x, they are completely different as you can see the image.

The biggest difference with the classic dualshock from the point of view of ergonomy is they made the grips a lot bigger and with a better external curvature
The goal is to adapt it better to bigger hands, is going to be more confortable, let say... it fills the palm of the hand better
If you take a classic dualshock and lay your hands in it with the fingers streched you can touch the tip of the index fingers with ech others... and the L1 and R1 are touching the index at the middle, not the tip

The classic dualshock is designed for small hands, actually, for kids, because that design was made for the original PS1 and they was not sure the kind of public they was going to have, initially was for kids... later they realized there was lot of adults that liked gaming :)
... i bet if we could take the classic dualshock design and "scale" it (with a 3D printer or something) up to 20% bigger it would feel a lot better

So... this new dualsense design is trying to adapt better to adult hands :)

Now the grips are bigger, they holds some electronics for the "haptic feedback", but also probably some parts for the adaptative triggers (gears, levers, motors, or how they named it "actuators"), all this new components are in the grips, and probably are a bunch of them

They removed the rumble? WHATDAF??!?!?
Yep, but personally i think is going to be one of the best things ever made in console history, probably is a risky decission they took, but it was about time

The rumble motors doesnt really gives a good feedback... is always the same feeling (with different intensity though)
Also, are unballanced, the fact you have the "small motor" in a hand and the "big motor" in the other doesnt really makes sense... it was made like that just because it was cheaper to manufacture and convenient, but idealistically it should be "simetrical" (left to right, same stuff in left than right)

I have may doubts about what they are calling "haptic feedback" technology though... and at this point is hard to imagine it... i gues the only way to be sure if it was a good or bad idea is to try it and feel it

I really think this could be a revolution for gaming, at this point microsoft cant "adopt" it in the next XBOX (because patent reasons, and timing), but the PC gamers are going to be jealous, eventually they will start asking game companyes to implement support for the dualsense controller in his PC games

------------------------------------------------
*And sony just needs to release a dualsense PC driver... and start selling dualsense controllers for all the PC gamers (win-win situation, they leads the technology owning the patent and invading the PC market)

Btw, just a thougt, get ready for dualsense "rev2", "rev3", "rev4", and so on...
Externally probably is not going to change, but the internal parts related with the adapatative triggers are very prone to break
Think in it... we have some kind of motors that are able to move the triggers and creates a resitance in them... but if you drop the dualsense to the floor and it touches with the triggers the gravity wins... there is no doubt about it ;)
So all that "mobile parts" (levers, cogs, etc...) needs to be very robust and anti-shock, and it needs some kind of mechanism to release them incase a bigger force is applyed to the trigger

And the electronic components for the haptic feedback in the grip surfaces are going to be redesigned (or recalibrated) many times too

Its mysterious why they didnt show the back of the controller probably they are adding something new to it.

It looks a bit like the xbox controller because they increased the thickness of the grips, i think the perspective used in this photo is intended to show that

They also adjusted the curvature of this area

This is why i said is better adjusted for adult hands, is a bit bigger, and that cuvature of the sides is where you lay the palm of your hand, to me it looks confortable, is more ergonomic than the dualshock 4 (and way better than the previous dualshocks where the grips are not ergonomic at all)

And yeah, maybe at the "hidden" side of the grips in the perspective photo there is some special surface, located in your finger tips, and intended to output the "haptic feedback"

Psykosis, the rumble motors is not a removal, is an upgrade, they removes them because they are going to replace them by something better... thats the theory, is still a mistery how it works, we need some videos to get an initial idea
The only way to know for sure is by feeling it though

In the same way that ergonomic changes in the grips i mentioned are something that needs to be tryed in real world... just by grabbing it with your hands (and while looking at your hands) try to lay your hands in different positions the most naturally posible

I would expect to see something like this on the successor to the xbox 360, NOT a sony product.

I was thinking maybe it has something equivalent to this built in on the back. Maybe not though.
