external hard drive size

what is the biggest external drive you can use with the ps4 there are so many conflicting things on google plus a lot is old as in we could only use drives formatted in fat32 well now we can use ntfs and exfat so im looking to get an external drive but want to know the biggest size that will work thank

I believe gpt if it's 2TB and above. mbr has a maximum capacity of 2TBs, but the ps4 can't seem to read 2TB mbr, only 2TB gpt. I tested that with installing packages.

2TBs, but I think you can partition the drive. I've never done it though, so I have no experience with getting partitioning to work. it must be in mbr as well. mbr is actually the reason for the 2TB limit rather than fat32.
