Greetings PSX-PLACE Family.

First of all, a Big thank you to Ps3Xploit Team and all who contributed for this great xploit !

Okay now, a few days ago i bought Metal Gear Solid HD collection. as i saw it's compatible in cfw2ofw wiki.

so i converted it, and installed it successfully, but... Sadly, only Peace walker is working, and the others [ MGS3 + MGS2 ] wasn't working. every time i enter those two games, it gives me black screen :(

Thanks for @ICECOLDKILLAH on http://www.ps3hax.net/showthread.php?t=60960

For the idea :D

What You Need:

Hjsplit: http://www.freebyte.net/download/hjsplit.zip
Focus.exe
______________________________________________________________________________________

Go to "PS3_GAME\USRDIR\MGS3"

You will see files like this: "mgs3.psarc.66600" and up.

now rename all those files to "mgs3.psarc.001" and the one after it "mgs3.psarc.002" and go like this to the last file.. except one file "mgs3_misc.psarc". leave this one alone, just do the trick to all files with the numbers

After finishing, now open "hjsplit" and click on "Join"

now click on "input" and put the first file: "mgs3.psarc.001" then click start.. Wait till finish. After that go to the same folder and you will find A big File called "mgs3.psarc"

Now remove all the files that you renamed.. from 001 to 011 or 010. ( don't remember )

and keep the big file.

repeat the process for MGS2 Folder

then,

convert the game
install it
profit :D

And Yes. I'm too lazy to decorate the thread

video for people didn't understand me right

I think this works for CFW users too. didn't test it

the 66600 file extension was devised by @deank if I'm not mistaken. mm will join the files together automatically if it detects them. I think it was split4g that split the files. they're intended for fat32 which is probably what you've stumbled on.

Well. didn't know about that, lol.

I've been suffering trying to solve this problem.

i saw a lot of people having this issue too. so i decided to share what i know about this :)

Does this method also work with MGS4? Im asking because on the compatibility website it also links this thread for MGS4

Isn't this piracy & not allowed in these forums.
There's nothing to suggest piracy; the OP clearly says he bought the game. I have my game disc version of MGS HD Collection backed up as an ISO which I originally had in JB format via multiMAN, and it does indeed split some files that are over 4GB in size when stored on a FAT32 USB drive.

Please don't back-seat moderate, and especially when there's nothing to suggest a breach of forum rules.

Alright didn't read that, thanks for correcting me.

Well if its not piracy, Then an easier way would be to not to split it into 66600x chunks in the first place when ripping the disc, then you wont need to rename them or join them :)

MGS HD works flawlessly all 3 of them, also MGS4, ive tested all versions of the Blu-Ray (2008 Release/Platinum/25th Anniversary), so far nothing to report, no black screen, anything, that was on Rebug 4.82/4.84 and HEN.

The game doesnt contains any file with extension .66600 (like the "mgs3.psarc.66600" you mentioned)
http://jonnysp.bplaced.net/info.php?file=ird/BLUS30847-46159999CF7EDB689C62EB6EE9D54F38.ird
That files has been splitted by a homebrew tool

So the solution is what @DeViL303 said

As simple as that, the problem was caused because you modifyed the files... so the solution is to dont modify the game files
There is no need a tutorial for that

Based in what you said... i guess you have the PS3 game in JB format (folder and files)
You should download the IRD from the web i mentioned... then do a IRD check to your game files, and it will show you which files has been modifyed

Is the same for all, applyes to CFW too
The point is you was modifying the game files, and right now is hard to know how it was originally

So... the first step you should do is a check to the files to see if are identical to the files in the the original bluray disc

okay thank you very much I will try this method and update as soon as possible

you can try to act blind but that's all well known scene releases that are still popular because torrents have good number of seeders.and huge ammount of threads are posted by people trying to run them on their consoles.

so basically this thread is a tut on how to fix scene release that was made for old multiman to run on current homebrew. :)

i peesonally don't care,i'm not trying to moderate or imply anything, but this indirect way of dealing with this topics clearly just adds to confusion that is rampant both on forum and in general when it comes to ps3.
