No you want to get a full dump and check it with py checker tool to be sure you don't have any errors. If everything looks good then you can reboot and install cfw if not don't reboot until we can get it fixed.
 
Balls. How do ya' go about checking if anything's wrong? I only loaded it up on the HxD editor and it doesn't show anything resembling an issue. Is there a specifc checksum I should compare it with just to make sure?

You should check it with py checker tool. It will give you a readout with all the info and any problems.

I have a fat CECH with 4.82 - only two USB ports but it doesn't matter if the flash drive is in the right or left hand slot. When using the 000 path, the Initialize exploitation would always show me a percentage complete until it reached 95% then it would fail. However, when I switched the path to 001, it immediately passed (like within a second or two). Then when I go to flash NOR, the console is freezes immediately ... every time. I even tried copying the .jpg to the picture folder but I get no love there either.

Ideas?

If you browse pages before using the exploit, you flood the browser memory with data & it makes the exploit initialization hard or impossible.

Follow the ps3xploit instructions on how to use the exploit & you won't experience any such issues.

Here is the part you missed:

Set the exploit page you want to use as a bookmark in the ps3 browser & set the browser homepage to blank.
Close the browser.
Open the browser again (blank page) & launch your bookmark.
 
Oh I followed the instructions, also, I cleared my cache, browsing history etc. but I did make the exploit paqe my home page and not a bookmark. I'll try that and i'll clear out my home page, but I have a feeling its not going to work. Do you have a good link to FERROX482_101.PUP, or perhaps the MD5 so I can make sure I got the right one? I'm assuming that when you flash the ROM, the java script starts to load that file into ROM ... and if I happen to have gotten the wrong one, it could explain why it's freezing up.

The exploit doesn't use any pup file.
Ferrox would get installed manually after all the exploitation process is over.
The only required file for exploitation is a patch file called flash_482.hex which should be downloaded from **ps3xploit.com >Domain no Longer owned by team** (ps3xploit.me =new) & copied to a USB drive, on a MBR partition formatted in fat32.
On the hdd version of the exploit, flash_482.hex gets renamed to a jpg file so it can get downloaded & copied to the photos folder.
 
Hey guys, so i just signed up to ask if this tutorial is still up to date and if theres a noob-friendly tutorial since im a complete newbie in the ps3 modding scene. I have a ps3 slim CECH-2504A with the Date Code: 1A and the minimum version of 3.56.

So my question is, if im good to go with my ps3 to get cfw and if there´s a step-by-step tutorial for newbies like me.

A minimum installable fw version higher than 3.56 would mean that the console is not compatible with CFW & attempting a jailbreak with the ps3xploit Flash Writer would brick it.

If the MinVerChk PUP displays a minimum installable fw version = 3.56, your console is CFW compatible.

In this case, you should follow the instructions I gave in this post to the letter. Don't omit any step!
