Problem is that now you can't check your firmware. Only info is that your ps3 want 4.70 or higher, that mean you was on 4.70. That why You should try rebug rex, then rebug d-rex then 999 downgrader. To xclude possibilities one by one.
Yes use System Update.Thank you for your advice, that is correct the only info I get is to update to 4.70 or higher. Can you give me a brief walk through and download links if possible on the rebug rex/rebug d-rex/999 downgrader? As mentioned before the only way to try these firmwares is via Recovery Mode, and I'm right to assume that I have to choose the option "System Update"?
Yes use System Update.
Just go to
LATEST REBUG FIRMWARE - UPDATED AUG. 2ND 2013 - Codename: REBUG
to download the 999 downgrader and go to Rebug Custom PS3 Firmware - Codename: REBUG to choose the Rebug CFW version you want (4.70/4.75/4.78). Don't forget there are 2 releases REX & D-REX for each firmware version.

Yes. kozarovv told you the order in an earlier post. .Thanks, is there a certain order on trying this versions?
Yes. kozarovv told you the order in an earlier post. .
First REX then D-REX & finally 999 downgrader.
For example, you can use Rebug 4.70.1 REX first.
If it fails try Rebug 4.70.1 D-REX.
If it fails too, try 999 downgrader.
If all 3 attempts fail, hardware flashing will be the only way out.

I want to thank you guys for your help, I tried the Rebug 4.70.1 REX first and it installed like a charm, so I updated to the latest release (4.78). Now I'm the process of installing PSNPatch and XMBLock, on the latest release webMAN came with it all I had to do was enable it.
