Hello, I bought a PS3 fat model cechp01 with YLOD and when I opened it, tantalums had been installed in place of the Nectokin chips, and it had the Eraser Mod. I did the UART on it and it only gave error 3004.
I replaced the tantalums because I thought they were poorly soldered, but it didn't solve the problem. I saw that the previous owner had removed two SMD resistors near the RSX first photo.
I soldered two 20k resistors and new tantalums (the last photo) in their place and it didn't solve the problem; it continues to give error 3004.
If anyone can help me, I would appreciate it.
Sorry for my English, I'm from Brazil.

Are you sure you used enough tantalums to replace the caps? Most repairs I've seen used at least 4 tantalums per nectokin capacitor.

In my case, I only replaced them with 4 new capacitors because I thought the problem was that they were poorly installed or poorly soldered.

Since the error code didn't change, I didn't want to try soldering more tantalum capacitors in their place. I tested the board extensively and didn't find a short circuit. Do you think soldering more tantalum capacitors in their place might solve the YOLD in this case ?

this error code is linked to bad filtering or general power failure to the RSX you don't have the correct setup for replacing the nec tokins. You might want to check this out:
