4.89.1 HFW (Hybrid FirmWare)

HFW 4.89.1 (Hybrid Firmware) Official Release -

I try to update my play3 to hfw 4.89.1 (I have the official 4.89) my play reads the pendrive in the main interface and also for excellent recovery when I install it, it loads everything fine, it says installing, it restarts normally. But when I go to system information it says that I still have the official 4.89. I did it many times update the date and time nothing. I try to update it again and it shows me that 4.89.1 hfw is available. I don't know what to do

HFW 4.89.1 is a variation of OFW with a few system files replaced to allow HEN installation.
You will not notice much difference checking system information unless you install HEN.

Entiendo pero el detalle es que no me deja instalar hen y cuando voy a información del sistema me dice que tengo el 4.89 aun es decir que no me instala el 4.89.1

English:
I understand but the detail is that it does not let me install hen and when I go to system information it tells me that I have 4.89, that is to say that it does not install 4.89.1

Try reinstalling HFW 4.89 again from recovery menu, but before do this:
1- Make sure that your pendrive is visible on XMB (if should be formatted FAT32 MBR)
2- PS3UPDAT.PUP should be copied to the folder /PS3/UPDATE (all folders and file should be in uppercase)
3- REMOVE any PS3 game disc from the BD drive. If you have one disc inserted, recovery will try to install that one.
4- Go to recovery menu and install HFW again.
5- After reboot and install HEN from https://ps3xploit.me/

Metldr2 keys havent been confirmed yet, once they do however idk what plans the HEN flasher will have next after the keys are found.
it'll probably take a while before software modding becomes possible. Someone claimed there was a wrench thrown into the plan but that wasnt the case we havent gotten any confirmation of failure or success yet.

when I go to system information it tells me that I have 4.89
it will only say 4.89. it will never say 4.89
1 or 4.89 (HFW).

you can tell that HFW is not installed when using the HEN installer pages. if it says "NaN" and fails, then HFW is not installed.

also, please remember to post in English or add an English translation.

Thank you very much, you were absolutely right. I joined this forum for that and really thanks

I have installed HFW 4.89.1 with HEN 3.1.1 and I am getting black screens when lunching any homebrew like multiMAN or webMAN. Any suggestions to resolve this issue?

I would recommend you install
Hfw and hen again via recovery menu it fixed it for me install it twice
I was told to do that now I ain't had black screen in like 6 months
It could be possible you have a corrupted file somewhere a re install should iron out the issues

Check if your lens is working properly first.
Well, I didn't expect the disc driver is causing this issue but I will check it anyway. I have bought two broken PS3 with SEM-001 motherboards. One of them have a dead CELL processor and the other have a failing NEC/TOKIN capacitor. I managed to fix the later by replacing the capacitor.

I will try this fix, thank you.

This simply won't work for me, I've downloaded the custom firmware and tried to install from a USB stick (DataTraveler G4 8GB) formatted to Fat32, but it simply won't recognise the update.

Have tried it in normal and Safe Mode and I get the same result. Also tried changing the partition from GTP to MBR, but everything I try fails. Tried following various YouTube guides (using Rufus to format the drive) All I get each time is "No Applicable Update Data Was Found" Does this require a specific make and size of USB stick?.

Trying this using a PS3 Super Slim with Firmware 4.89. Any suggestions would be great.

When you connect the drive normally (i.e., not recovery / safe mode) does it show in the music and video tabs in XMB? Try creating a folder named MUSIC and putting some MP3s there. Can you play them? If the drive doesn't show up at all or you can't play music / videos from it (and you're sure you're on MBR+FAT32) then the disk is probably faulty, try another one.

If the disk works it could be that the update file names are wrong. You need to create a directory called "PS3", inside it create another directory called "UPDATE" and put the update file there. The update file must be named "PS3UPDAT.PUP" for it to be recognized. Make sure both the directories' and the file's names are ALL CAPS. That's a common mistake. Another common mistake is calling the update file "PS3UPDATE.PUP" - Drop the E.

Thanks for the feedback, yes the drive does display in the music and video sections, music and video both play. The file names and folders are all spelt correctly and all in CAPS. But I still get the same result when trying to run the update file. I thought that maybe the file was corrupt after downloading from the mirror links, tried 2 of the 3 links (one doesn't work anymore). But I get the same result from both. I did a hash check on both files and they differ slightly the hash supplied is all in caps but the check displays the same but letters are all lower case so not an exact match. Could it be that the file is the issue?

Thanks to whoever made this, this is what im running on my superslim ps3. i was on 4.85 or something before but could never re-enable hen due to the site being down when i got the ps3 out the loft again 2 weeks ago so decided to upgrade to this new HFW. so far so good.

cant install CFW on a super slim anyway right?

there should be an "enable hen" icon on the xmb after installing. there should be no need for internet. if the icon is missing (probably because a pkg changed the xml), you can use the enablers on my github HERE. the first one is for standard installations. others for running from usb.

correct. maybe someday!

This HFW is not working for me on CECHG model. I have reinstalled OFW 4.89 and everything is working. When this HFW is installed again and HEN is enabled, nothing will work afterword. I only get black screens.

I have checked the console disc drive following a suggestion on this forum and found an UNCHARTED 2 disc stuck inside :excitement: But even after fixing this issue and confirming that console is working. Homebrews will freeze the console and the only option I have is turning the console off and reinstalling the OFW followed by "restoring the file system" from "Safe Mode".

I have considered the option of patching the system flash while on HFW using a modified version of PS3Xploit's "flash dumper v 2.0.2" but the operation seems too risky. Since I am not sure about outcomes and don't have a hardware flasher to restore the system if it was bricked in the process.
