how is the dpad on this ps classic?

back in 1998 i remember in dino crisis my thumb got so sore from pressing the dpad.

on the ps classic, is the dpad softer and easier to press?

Compare to the original right now, yeah I am sure it is softer

it's probably going to feel cheap like everything else about that system. I haven't used mine in months, so I don't remember what it feels like.

Well, the software is indeed cheap and shit but case and joypads are have really good quality.

About d-pad: it is fine, but comparing to DS is almost the same in matter of pressing. Personally I preferring hard to push buttons. ;p
