Installing CFM after harddrive upgrade

I believe I've solved ur problem. which selection r u choosing in the recovery menu with the new drive? it needs to be the one I mentioned - "restore file system." the reason it can't detect an update with the "update" option is that ur drive isn't formatted, so there's no hdd1 to store the update on. I hope that works for u.

Nope, I thought so too but when I choose restore file system it said there is no system or something. It brings me to the screen where I need to press the start select and then it doesnt find any update file.

I put the original back in and am continuing down the list. Gonna just do them all. At rebuilding database now.
When the rebuild database is done I will put the NEW drive back in and pay more attention to the message it gives me when I choose that option.

that should be the normal way to upgrade an hdd. reformat the drive to ntfs. if that doesn't work, the drive may not be compatible. what's the make/model of the drive?

I really have no idea then. ur system isn't functioning normally, so the only other thing I can think of is either a software or hardware problem.

FINALLY figured it out!!!!

Here's the info incase anyone else has the same problem..

Last week I went on ebay and ordered a 2mm micro mini jumper shunt for the hard drive. Had to buy 10pk. Came to $2.00 shipped from Spain. Glad it didnt take very long to get here. :)
This is the one I got: 10x Generic Micro Mini Jumper Shunt 2mm 2 00 PCB Laptop 1 8" 2 5" HDD | eBay

This is the settings for the hard drive. I needed to limit to 1.5 Gbits.

Popped the hard drive back in. I first went to recovery mode, and choose restore file system. That did not work.
Then I just started the ps3 like normal, and it did its thing. Formatted the hard drive and installed 3.55 without any issues.

Now I will install the latest cfw.

Thanks for everyones help!!

After taking a brief hiatus due to me playing around with Microsoft Office 2016, I have to say congratulations on sorting out that pain-in-the-ass issue. :D
