I was just wondering how can we tell if the game is checking for files integrity .
I have found a file called PS3TOC.TXT in some games such as Batman Arkham Origins , Dishonored , Enslaved Odyssey to the West , Borderlands the Pre-sequel , Bioshosk Infinite .. could this be it ?
I also found a file called disc_check in Blur .
Or is it something in the EBOOT that is checking ?
Only a few games check for file integrity... most of them basically check that the file exists (even if it's a 0 byte) or the file size (e.g. PS3TOC.TXT).
If the game has a PS3TOC.TXT, you can edit it and the game will accept the changes.
A rule of the thumb is: Never delete the english files and always replace the ripped files with a dummy (0 byte or 1 frame movie).
The PS3_UPDATE can be removed safely... although I prefer to replace the PUP with a dummy file.
