PS3 Is there anyway to integrate updates into game iso?

I need to bring alive this thread because I think there should be a way to integrate DLCs and updates into the base ISO. I mean, developers do it with GOTY, Complete and Special Editions, don't they? I am not sure where the problem relays on, but it seem to me it is the EBOOT.BIN file, right?

If the problem is the EBOOT, existing tools like "CFW Eboot & PKG Resigner v1.20 (x64)" and "TA Self Resigner" should help?

Yes, there are various methods to do it:
1- Copying the PKG files to the root directory of the ISO. Package Manager will show them when the ISO is mounted.
2- PS3_EXTRA folder will create a secondary disc that will list the content (packages, themes, videos) using a menu like What's News. This is the newer format to include extra content.
3- PS3_GAME/INSDIR it installs packages named as DATA000.PKG (up to 999)
4- PS3_GAME/PKGDIR/PKG01 (up to 99) it installs the INSTALL.PKG A disc containing install packages is also called an install disc.
5- Create an standalone data disc with the packages in the root directory. Mount this disc first to install the updates and DLC, then mount the ISO with the game. Name both ISO in a similar way.

For an example of the directory structure visit:

This is how the old structure looks for INSDIR and PKGDIR
