I bought a PS3 a while back to try to home brew, and it turns out it was a model that could not do CFW but would run HEN. It does, but is unreliable and takes a bit to get it working (which is not ideal for the kids to quickly get to the backups).
So I bought another PS3 (model listed above) that apparently can run CFW but checking the update and it appears to be 4.93 and I am unsure if that is possible from the information on the site PS3Xploit.
On the PSX Place site I have found this but don't want to start something that will break the PS3, I can wait for a newer version if needed.
I was watching the videos from Mario but they appear to be for 4.92 and as I mention, the previous owner had run the latest update (or a more recent update if that is not officially the latest).
I am OK at following the instructions but am not into soldering or any of the other bits I have heard some people do with custom chips, I was looking at using CFW so that it can run the back ups without HEN and the unstable nature of it starting each time and not crashing when I run MultiMan or similar.
Thanks for the advice.
