PS3 Just bought a PS3 CECH-2503A - DC[0A] FW 4.93

I bought a PS3 a while back to try to home brew, and it turns out it was a model that could not do CFW but would run HEN. It does, but is unreliable and takes a bit to get it working (which is not ideal for the kids to quickly get to the backups).
So I bought another PS3 (model listed above) that apparently can run CFW but checking the update and it appears to be 4.93 and I am unsure if that is possible from the information on the site PS3Xploit.
On the PSX Place site I have found this but don't want to start something that will break the PS3, I can wait for a newer version if needed.
I was watching the videos from Mario but they appear to be for 4.92 and as I mention, the previous owner had run the latest update (or a more recent update if that is not officially the latest).
I am OK at following the instructions but am not into soldering or any of the other bits I have heard some people do with custom chips, I was looking at using CFW so that it can run the back ups without HEN and the unstable nature of it starting each time and not crashing when I run MultiMan or similar.
Thanks for the advice.

What is the date code? have you used minver.pup ?
The guide version does not matter just use all upto date files for 4.93, hfw 4.93.1,

If the data code is 0A it should be compatible with CFW:

Additionally you can use MinVerChk to check if the minimum version that can be installed on it is 3.56 or below:
https://www.psx-place.com/resources/minverchk-minimum-version-checker.610/.
If it is 3.56 or below it can have CFW.
If higher currently it can have HEN or qCFW (soldering is required).

If you want to install CFW from 4.93 HFW you have to wait for the tool set to be updated:

As I mention, the person I bought it from updated it to FW 4.93 but the CFW options seem to require 4.92 or lower.

I ran the MinVerChk it said 3.40 or later

I seem to think I will have to wait for someone cleverer than I to work out this process.

The EvilNat 4.93 CFW would have to go on top of the OFW 4.92, I don't think I can put it on the latest version.

I don't want to brick the machine, trying CFW that won't work.

Just wait for BG Toolset to be updated to support 4.93 HFW.
It can take some time but eventually it will be released.
Stay tuned!
