PS3 ManaGunZ - PS3 Backup Manager by Zar v1.41

No, the check on cobra version is a bad idea. The ps2emu can be patched without having a cobra 7.50+....

About the stage files, I don't know how they are used. I just put them here.
It check if they exist to know if the ps2emu are patched or not, i know it's ugly... the detection of ps2emu is very bad...

It didn't detect at all if it's a ps3 slim or fat, nothing. So, it always patchs every files.

I already had this issue when it stuck at "patching ps2_gxemu.self", the issue was caused by scetools, it didn't have the key to decrypt the self, perhaps it's the same issue... I'll investigate.

Thanks, it was one of the doubts i had related with non-cobra support and wanted to ask you, now i understand a bit better how it works

I made a new spanish translation ---> https://www.sendspace.com/file/b9jcbx
And made a screencapture of how good my managunz looks
FgeBZR6.jpg

Can you add this translation to your github as soon as posible @Zar ?, in the last one i made i was scared incase was not added to the next managunz release, i dont want to miss the party :'(
This one is much better imo, it represents a big improvement for new managunz spanish users to help them understand how it works

Now some talk about the "FLOW" modes, the way i see the first thing im going to say is a problem... the others are just suggestions as always :)
Im going to use screencaptures with spanish language because it can be seen better

Inside "Global options" - "user interface settings"
-----------------------------------------------
TFjCkbC.jpg

At the time you added the "FLOW 3D" interface it was added as a new option (located at the end of the list)
But the way i see it is a variation of the FLOW "COVER+CASE" display mode... and that option existed before (with options YES/NO in managunz 1.31)
The change i suggest is to replace that "YES/NO" by... "NO/2D/3D", this way it can be removed the other option (specific for 3D)

The problem is in actual managunz 1.31 you can have the options: "show covers" (in 2D) and "3D" both enabled... but this doesnt makes sense because only is going to be used one of them, is just the "3D" takes priority and ignores the other
But new managunz users are not going to realize about this, is a bit confusing right now

POnHwCp.jpg

I think the "game title" at top in previous versions of managunz was bigger... im guessing at the time you implemented the "3D" mode it was reduced unintentionally, is needed to increase that font size (the same used in other UI modes for the titles... like in LIST or XMB)
And what i draw in the image is a suggestion to allows to locate that title text in 2 different positions, at top is the actual one... and bottom is an alternative that needs to be shown as a new option in the "user interface settings", something like:
"Game title location" = TOP / BOTTOM

Also, i draw some arrows in red to indicate that titles will look better if are "centered" in the available area... this doesnt needs to be accurate because that available area depends of the size of the plastic COVER+CASE (and PS1/PS2/PS3/PSP has different heights) but becaue is not a good idea to move that title text for every CASE+COVER that appears in the center of the screen is better to find a position that is good for all them, and use that positions for all game formats
Basically... as you can see in my drawing i think the title at top needs to be moved down some pixels

This applyes too to the "3D" view btw
Additionaly, in my oppinion, the size of the CASE+COVER displayed in 3D is huge, i would reduce them for a better look... maybe to the same size used in "2D"
Most of the stuff in between the 2D and 3D modes of the FLOW UI could use the same sizes

And jst an extra suggestion... in FLOW "user interface settings" the option "show background" in managunz 1.31 displays the PIC1.PNG "OVER" the other game icons
I think can be added other display mode for it "UNDER" the other game icons... i think the easyer way to implement this is replacing the BG.JPG with it (or overlapping it)
So basically... what im saying is to change the available options of "show background"=NO/OVER/UNDER

As always, I apreciate that u gave me ur opinion <3, thanks.

I added ur file inside my local folder, it will be uploaded when i'll upload the next update.

Indeed there is something weird here. The option show cover and show case are used ONLY if option 3D is not enabled...

So, perhaps this can be better :

UI = fLOW
GameSide = ...
ShowPIC = ...
Inverse button = ..
3D = YES

and if 3D is disable then it will display the 2 extra options

UI = fLOW
GameSide = ...
ShowPIC = ...
Inverse button = ..
3D = NO
Show cover = YES
Show game case = NO

FYI, every YES/NO option will be remplaced by toggle like in android, or like retroarch.

I want to do it for a loong time :p

yep, why not.

It's voluntary, as I was trying to COPY the wiiFlow ;) I just removed the extra rotation of the box, i didn't like it :p

That's what I did at first and It's very ugly, believe me it was easier for me to display the background far away than just behind the selected box. So, I also had to move the unselected boxes in a differents lvl....

Indeed there is something weird here. The option show cover and show case are used ONLY if option 3D is not enabled...
That sentence summarizes it very well, im going to write a couple of examples because i had them written already

User Interface = Flow
Game SideMenu = NO
Show PIC1 = NO
Show Cover = NO <------------------------ uhhh
Inverse button = YES
3D = YES

User Interface = Flow
Game SideMenu = NO
Show PIC1 = NO
Show Cover = YES
Show Game Case = NO <------------------------ uhhh
Inverse button = YES
3D = YES

Both combinations shows COVER+CASE in 3D... but in the first example i disabled the cover, and in the second the case
Anyway the option 3D "overrides" them and makes appear the COVER+CASE, because obviouslly the 3D mode needs the covers and uses plastic case images in 3D, hehe

By default you have to disable all options related with COVER or CASE, because in a initial instalaltion of managunz there are no covers, and there could be lot of users that doesnt cares or doesnt likes the covers

And the CASE (either in 2D or 3D) is an additional display mode based on the COVER
If there is no COVER... then CASE should not be allowed because is going to look ugly (empty and generic plastic cases)

So imo the COVER goes first in the hierarchy... and if COVER is enabled then CASE is given as optional

User Interface = Flow
Game SideMenu = NO/YES
Show PIC1 = NO/YES
Show Cover = NO/YES
Show Game Case = NO/2D/3D
Inverse button = YES/NO

I think is better ordered this way, the only problem i see is the 2D and 3D modes (that looks great) are a bit "hidden" and by default needs to be disabled, so the users maybe will miss them and will not realize that exists
But well... this is for people that initially was interested in covers... and when enabling the "Show cover" option it makes appear the other option "Show game case" like miraculouslly and this is good enought to call his attention :D

FYI, every YES/NO option will be remplaced by toggle like in android, or like retroarch.

Hehe, good idea, are going to be 16x16px or so ? just wondering if could follow the same format than the small icons for the file manager ;)
I guess you are considering doing them in Tiny3D but sometimes creates crispy edges :/

It's voluntary, as I was trying to COPY the wiiFlow ;) I just removed the extra rotation of the box, i didn't like it :p
I meant you can use same sizes in 2D and 3D because basically is the same style, proportions and dimensions
The game title at top in 3D is affected by that problem with the tiny font, game title font needs to be increased in 3D too like in 2D
And the plastic case sizes in 3D are bigger than 2D... i think you can resize them to fit the size of 2D
Or you can find an intermediate size for plastic cases in both 2D and 3D... but iirc the sizes in 2D are a consequence of displaying the covers at the real original size (260x320 for PS3 iirc, etc...)
So... dunno if is good idea to increase the case sizes for 2D

That's what I did at first and It's very ugly, believe me it was easier for me to display the background far away than just behind the selected box. So, I also had to move the unselected boxes in a differents lvl....
I cant imagine why will look ugly, maybe this is the kind of things that needs to be seen before giving oppinion and because i did not see it i think is not so ugly, i think will look ok but you are making me doubt now XD
Personally i would not use it (either under or over the unselected games).... but this is because i love my background image from the survival theme XD

I use to take some notes in a .txt about managunz stuff and i had some about the filemanager, im going to post it now because has been some talks about managunz file manager latelly in the forum
Im not suggesting to make all this changes now, not even for the next version of managunz because most are just details, but take a look and eventually consider in adding them

The first idea came while uisng the filemanager a lot, i realized everytime i enter in it i only use one window... so i thought in resizing the default window at full screen
And intuitivelly i made a double click in the window header (to maximize) but was not working, hehe

Then i thought it could be nice to do the same for "dock window to left" and "dock window to right"... to have a dual panel view, like in total commander style

To achieve this first i thought in a "contextual window" that should appear when clicking in "options" in the window header (circle button in any point of the header), a generic small menu like the one used for files and folders, but with options related to the window... initially the name strings of this "window display modes" im suggesting

But then i realized could be better to add more buttons at the window header (the goal here is the change the display modes with a single click)

So i made some screencaptures to add the buttons in photoshop to show you, there was not need to make this images but anyway im uploading them because are already made
Original (managunz v1.31) this one is useful to compare with the last one of this post where i resized stuff with photoshop

Full screen with added buttons

Dual panel

Then i made another screenshot with all the design changes made in photoshop and other suggestions, i hope are self explanatory

---------------------------------------------------------------
And as said.... because i use to add notes in a .txt and i order them in blocks under categories... i have some stuff to report related with the file manager, i prefer to write it now, im going to post it with short descriptions

file ---> properties
Appears a small window with 2 lines of (pointless imo) info:
Archive: 1 <----------------------- always 1 because you are looking at the properties of a single archive
Directories: 0 <----------------------- always 0 because you are looking at the properties of a single archive

slider click-and-drag
This doesnt works, i mean... moving the pointer to the slider, then clicking in it (with X) and moving the dualshock stick up or down while holding X
Not sure if is implemented thought, but i noticed a couple of weird behaviours
If you try to make this click-and-drag the slider moves a bit, just a few pixels (it looks like is going to work) but when trying to moving it far up or down the pointer loses the slider
If you have 2 windows opened (so there is other inactive), when trying to click-and-drag in the slider of the active window... the slider of the other inactive window moves too, uhhh it looks like are connected, you drag one slider but are moved two

One detail i added in my screenshot represents another feature to make this scrolling up or down in a easyer way
In actual version of managunz you can click (by X button) at the bottom of the scroll bar, and the slider moves a bit... thats nice, the problem is if you want it to move it again in the same direction you need to press X again
So to scroll a long list of items you have to press X repeatedly like crazy, this is bad
It could be nice if you allow to make a continuos scroll just by keeping pressed the X button (so you can scroll a long list with a single click)

Ohh, almost forgot... i think there is an important problem about button mapping inside file manager
In all other places of managunz circle button = back (or quit)
In most display modes of managunz (such the game selection screens or others) triangle button = options

But in the filemanager R3 button = back (or quit/close)
And circle button = options

I think this is weird (personally for me is not intuitive at all, i never remember it), it should be like in other places of managunz
Triangle = options
Circle = back

lol, the drag and drop isn't supported ;)

I think i copied the button mapping of mmOS. At first I wanted to make it standalone, so, I didn't really take care of the coherence with ManaGunZ.

I won't add buttons in the header for 2 reasons :
- I like when it look simple
- It's a PITA to do it ;)

But I can include it with a double click on the window header and also with the options in the window header.

I think I agree with everything else.

PS : Don't forget that u can increase moves speed with R2. So, to scroll down fast u can press :dir down::but r2:

Nice, without buttons is not so fast to change view modes with a single click though, if you like it partially add it at the end of the "todo" list :)

Another report about file manager text strings...

Inside the window header you have the strings "Name" and "Size"
This ones needs to be loaded from the localized .txt (translated for other languages)
In managunz 1.31 you have one for STR_SIZE (is just the filemanager doesnt loads it), but not for STR_NAME (this one needs to be added to the translations)

And what does the L3 = refresh ?
I guess it refresh the windows contents (im not sure because everytime i use it i dont see any change)

Im thinking if you decide to change the button mapping as i suggested.... now R3 is available
So you could remap the "refresh" function to R3, this way R stick is dedicated to "window tasks"
Move R stick = move window
Press R stick = refresh window

And i would display it most at right of the row of buttons (to have R icon and R3 icon together)

yeah it refresh the window content.

I use it mostly when i plug a usb device, I spam it to know when it's mounted :p

Some more notes about the filemanager @Zar

default window location
at start, move default window location at center of the screen (instead of displaced to top-left)

go to parent folder
in "/root" remove the first line with the 3 dots for "go to parent folder"

dummy files doesnt displays its size
0 bytes files doesnt shows its "size" such: dev_hdd0/data/disp_change.dat ...or... dev_hdd0/mms/mms.swp

cursor speedup
increase cursor movements speed by holding R2 button

timestamps and permissions
Inside the window, at right of the "size" can be added a new column for timestamps... and another for permissions

---------------------------------
And something interesting to catch the memory bug of 1.31... while messing around inside filemanager for lot of time and using lot of functions... i had that red rectangle warning at right of the screen about "exceeded the memory size reserved for vertex info"
Before this i was telling to trigger this bug it was needed to enter filemanager + any other menues... but i was wrong
Actually it happens too without need to enter any other menu.... is just if you stay in filemanager the probabilities for the bug to appear are smaller... but if you do a lot of things inside fielemanager it happens too

I copy/pasted ur post ;)

I'm currently trying to reduce the memory used in file manager... I noticied 1 big mistake which was eating lot of memory, I hope it was the cause of these freezes... but i'll continue the job of using the memory more properly (with malloc and free) to avoid this kind of freeze...

I think I found the issue with scetool, when I added 4.82 keys, notepad++ changed every "LF" by "CRLF"... So, it couldn't extract a self.

Its a great news. Zar, is there a chance that you can fix the freeze error and add the copy/merge to internal option to external fat32 ps2 games?
