PS3HEN My external hard drive goes to sleep mode

So, some weeks ago I bought a Toshiba external hard drive (3.0 USB) so I could backup my games, the thing is that the hard drive goes to sleep mode after some time, this often happens with games that save game data into the internal hard drive or splitted games with cached data, so when the game loads something from the external hard drive, it freezes, I know that Irisman has a feature that allows you to wake up the hard drive after some time, but I'm not sure if Irisman allows for cached data for splitted games, (And it clashes with Multiman, so everytime I try to shut down the console it shuts down forever). Any solution?

a lot of hdd manufacturers have an app that can change the hdd's setting including turning off sleep mode. you can probably find one if you go to your hdd manufacturer's website.

if it doesn't have specific app/tool you can use hddscan or hdd sentinel to edit firmware settings, apm and acoustics management.

hdd scan for me personally is easier to deal with, all relevant settings are in one place in features menu.

There are two options in features, Power Managment and Advance Power Managment, which one do I use.

webMAN has a feature called "USB polling" that prevents the USB device go to sleep reading a random sector in the USB device every 120 seconds. The feature is disabled by default, but can be enabled going to http://127.0.0.1/setup.ps3 and unchecking the option "Disable USB polling" when you expand the "webMAN MOD Setup" section. Remember to save the settings after the changes.

IRISMAN also have the option to keep awake the usb devices in its fan controller plugin.

Thanks! But does WebMAN support cached files from games (split files)

No .666xx files are not supported in game mount. If you store your games in FAT32, you can convert the game to split ISO (*.iso.0, *.iso.1, etc.)

If the games use PSARC, you can extract the content to a subfolder and continue using the game in JB format without split files .666xx

These .666xx files are obsolete nowadays. Split ISO do a better job and don't require to cache the large files in HDD.

And how do I play with a split ISO?

And how do I play with a split ISO?

Put the split iso files on /dev_usb000/PS3ISO, mount the ISO with any backup manager and play.

All current backup managers support split isos if you use Cobra, Mamba or PS3HEN.

Hello friend, exactly how should I use the function in Iris Manager so that the USB does not enter sleep mode. Should I put the time to the maximum? or set it to "Disabled". I would like you to clarify it for me, I do not want to use webman.
And if it is necessary to start iris manager every time I restart the PS3. Because I use multiman, thanks in advance.

This doesnt work in this context. The issue with this feature in hddscan and such is that they dont change APM and AAM on a drive firmware level, they adjust the Windows drive management settings(or in some cases, they make a process and a group policy to auto start a process that requests a drive read every X seconds) to accomodate this, meaning that these settings made on these programs will only affect how the drive performs on your Windows PC and will still sleep on other devices and computers.
