PS2 [Open PS2 Loader] Game Bug Reports

Regarding the UDMA4-comment... Correct... It does not mean it works well with every mode now, but...

The DMA-Mode is still just a trigger...
The HDD Model is also just a trigger...

Since @SP193 fixed that specific issue at it's root in the cdvd-emu-driver, this should not be triggered again by any of these possible triggers!

Possible triggers for this were (IMO):
  • Game-code
  • Speed of certain hardware
  • possibly fragmentation could have an influence (a positive, due to longer response-times?)
  • Timings
  • Etc.
Most of these should not trigger an issue with the fixed part of the cdvd-emu-driver ahain/anymore.

He and I use the maxdiypower SATA board, I never saw it myself only just started testing it.
Can you check it with UDMA2 (which means you need to disable Mode 1 because it limits the speed by itself)? Turn on Mode 6 if the pad doesn't work.

It works fine with UDMA2 as well, same tiny stutter is there during the track preview. I think it's just the game.

Testing Half-Life as well to see if I can figure out how to get rid of the audio issue.

It's kind of annoying because I have 1100+ partitions on this 2Tb and OPL takes ~50 seconds to load lol.

Why would you ever need so many games, lol?

Which track preview?

Because I'm a hoarder :-p

Go to Arcade Mode / Single Race, choose between world circuit, original circuit etc and the next screen you choose which track and it shows a preview of it.

Sadly, I don't own GT4 right now. I wanted to check it on YT. I don't remember ANY menu stuttering in GT4, so I don't buy that story about it stuttering from the original disc.

It's very tiny, perhaps 'stutter' isn't the correct word to use.

It kind of reminds me of how it plays on a non BC PS3 but on a PS3 it does it the whole time not just during that preview.

Anyway the game itself plays fine so I agree with @TnA that it's not worth bothering with.

Just checked ICO from SSD... It still needs mode 6, but neither MDMA0 nor Mode 2 to work (which it needs according to the list at Ps2-home.com).

More tests of some games, where I suppose this fix could result in needing less modes will follow!

Btw.: @Tupakaveli: You should consider getting an SSD... I prepared it for tests only, but dang... Impressive!

It's that part of the game. It looks smoother in the video to me so you're probably right. Need to test it some more.

I'm guessing the video was with pcsx2.

Yeah there's definitely something wrong with it. The longer you watch the track preview for, the worse it gets.

I've tried all sorts of combinations but can't seem to affect it. Also for anything below UMDA4 I don't need Mode 1 (or Mode 6) for the pad to work.

Interesting that the pads behave differently with different transfer-modes!!!

I believe there is still some code where a timing-issue could be triggered, but the last commit prevents a lot of cases, which could trigger it!

Have your tried UDMA3 and Mode 2+6?

It's horrible if the game stutters like that, but it's probably something in the code of OPL. Before sp193's fixes in 0.9.3, many games stuttered, actually. I think the worst example of that was Onimusha 2, which could be played from start to finish, but with horrible performance. Seems GT4 is still like that. Sad...
