OPL (Open PS2 Loader)

PS2 Open PS2 Loader v1.1.0

So even the audio stutters on Street racing syndicate??

I agree. If a modification that improves many things breaks many others, there's the need to use a MODE...
I test the speed of 3 Variant Method with USB as all people know the 1.1 speed all my games shutter in cutscene in god of war 1,2 gta san andreas resdent evl 4 fifa street 1 2 ghost riders ... in SMB speed are is pretty good compared to the USB is its shutter in 2 or 3 games and loading speed is decreased and in Internal HDD i have my Network Adpater with IDE to SATA Adapter and a 2To HDD FHDB 1.966 and last Open PS2 Loader always i never face a problem no Lag,No cutscene Shutter,no Longer Loading all is good and i prefer HDD and its faster x10 time than normal DVD Player :)

So even the audio stutters on Street racing syndicate??
no, what i mean is that there's a particular race in this game (at least up to the point where i've progressed on the game) in 2 particular corners where the game's stutters heavily (i gueess its trying to load the next area of the track)
this is the closest example as the guy jumps over the wall, but its never as bad as it gets afterwards in the video at least i dont think since i've never bothered finishing the race.

and in san andreas its you moving around the world sometimes the camera also reacts to this this is in iHDD mode audio is fine in san andreas

but so far after the SMB update street racing syndicate is the only game i've seen it actually affects performance in a negative way, for example gran turismo 3 intro still cant be played at full speed however mode 1 helps quite a bit but still no full speed, bully's intro FMV before in SMB randomly stuttered now it does so more ofter but honestly i couldnt care less about this game's fmv because i most of the time skip it i mentioned it because i noticed a change
other than those games i've mentioned SRS its the only one impacted in a negative way (tested a few other open world ones and saw no stuttering in SMB)

before posting this i've decided to see what the bandwidth was in street racing syndicate while it was stuttering and i saw peaks of 16.9 Mb/s !!! thats the highest i've ever seen SMB do while in a game, while in the race loading screens is somewhere in between 14 and 16 Mb/s this was done in a FAT console. i found that the game loads differently than other open world games i tested, this one loads 2.2Mb/s then nothing for a few seconds then suddenly a big chunk of 16Mb/s (this is when it stutters heavily) then 2.2Mb/s again, the other games i tested are constanlty loading smaller chunks of data with less bandwidth used. so it might be more of an issue in how SRS is coded.

GTA SA and RE4 cut-scenes shouldn't stutter using USB.

Well, maybe it also depends what USB device & console you're using.
I remember that in GoW II through USB with SCPH-50004 most FMV stutters,
while with SCPH-77004 mostly (not always) everything was fine.

So in most causes USB support\speed for SLIM consoles is better.

With some USB devices, FMV in Burnout Revenge may also stutter, while with other (faster) everything is smooth.

Ah ok.
I never experienced differences about Ps2 models. I used almost always the same device (a 500gb Toshiba HDD-USB 3.0).

Translated from FR to EN:

What is its revision number, please?

I will test it and, if it makes a real improvement, I will enter it in my compatibility list (the one you know).
I await your answers.

PS: I do my tests on SCPH39004/50004/70004.

Is there a version of the OPL that allows you to choose the language of the game? if I have a Japanese console and I want to start it in English \ Italian? like at the function on R4 of NDS, first start the game, press Y, choose language and start tha game, there is that functon? thanks

Have you tried if the last rev solved the SRS problem??

I compiled OPL with different speed settings (on MODE 1) for Mortal Kombat Deception. MKD is pretty sensitive in loading times while connecting between players with different mediums.

The value TargetTime.lo (modules/iopcore/cdvdman/cdvdman.c line 377) in my build is now 81840 (thanks @jolek for the hint). With this value (and enabled MODE 1) it's now possible to play with the HDD against DVD/USB user. I'm not a programmer and just tried different values. So, could this high value (?) for TargetTime.Oi cause any bad side effects?

Is there any interest to share these specific builds for people who had similar online problems?

The timing issues need to be inspected and embraced fully because a lot of games have problems only because of that. We would save a lot of time if there was a way to just tweak the timing for specific problematic titles, instead of trying to patch them all.

The fact is, a lot of PS2 games work simply because they were tested on real hardware and even if there are some bugs in a given game, they aren't triggered with the right timing.

No, unfortunately.

No, unfortunately.

I heard different times about that problem using Ps2 of different region. It would be a difficult modification??

Some games can be patched to force language.
Edit: Creating patch is actually pretty easy, require some basic skills in ps2dis. Really basics.

Thank you for the tip :D

Btw it would be useful to incorporate such option in OPL imho. Since the main goal of the project is immediacy and ease of use for everyone (you know, most FMCB users couldn't even fully understand the FMCB Configurator…).
