PS3 Original/black XMB question

Hi, I've tried (using Xforge) to edit one of the theme colors in the XMB theme selector to just be black, current modern wave and particle effects just replacing the color to another one but to no avail.

The main thread regarding this has been closed as the last 10 pages are just people arguing about icons.


Could anyone knowledgable in this point me to a resource on which files I'd need to replace to change the XMB color and the color of the little box in the theme settings menu? Thanks in advance.
 
one thing I found is that you can make the background black by changing the red, blue, and green:float 1 and 2 from 1 to 0 instead of changing the dds.

I did as previously stated, but none of those threads point to changing the color selection under settings > theme settings, also most of the attached files are either the OG black XMB without the particles or with particles but not with true black as it was back then.

The attachments in the thread linked by Guilote Tesla, are without particles, I was thinking of retaining the modern particles/sparks while also having the option to select the color balck in the system settings > theme settings menu, maybe replacing one of the current colors e.g. pink or green?

a specific color is easy to do, just look up the color sequence on psdevwiki. the month colors are in order, plus there's ones for themes afterwards iirc. they're just .DDS files, so you can grab one, and paint it all black, then hex it back in.

I mean yes, I've tried it but I'm not trying to remove the color of the month theme that's present on boot, I mean I could but meh, my issue is trying to add a color or edit one of the existing ones in this menu :

I've tried editing the box colors but nothing happens, even if they're all black. Once I go into this menu they still remain.
Basically I change colors on a semi frequent basis, but would like to have black/noir as one of the choices but modernized to retain the modern particle effects.

use xForge to edit lines.qrc, replace one color .DDS with black and done.

About the color preview, AFAIK, nobody yet discovered how to do it.
 
Alright, I'll just stick to using the black theme with sparkles from the Ultimate Toolbox, along with the OG game boot(slim font) and coldboot, maybe one day we can have added themes instead of replacements :D
