Unless everyone agrees to use the same emer_init.self paths, there is bound to be discrepancies in this logic...

Even if that responsibility was given to Cobra, what when Cobra is disabled? And what of mamba then? Or a standard CEX CFW?
And we are back to CFW makers...

Nowadays there aren't many CFW makers anymore. That helps.
MFWBuilder's task could easily be changed as well btw.

If rebug firmware uses this approach then the other cfw creators will soon follow suit as it will make sense for them to do so in order to still get ppl off rebug and onto there's

As long as you run psn patch first and do not go into multiman or webman or tool box or anything just go direct to psn then your ban risk is minimal

The only risky thing is online gaming with a handful of known game titles & with some modded game titles whether you use psnpatch or not.

Everything else is safe as long as you follow the usual psnpatch steps to connect to PSN.
Don't deviate from the steps!

A brick can happen in various cases.
It can be a 'soft' brick or a 'perma' brick.
A soft brick could happen with corrupted or missing system files. A simple cfw reinstall will restore the system.
A permanent brick on the other hand means the console is dead. For instance bad flashing can lead to a situation where no amount of hardware flashing can restore a working NOR or NAND.

Those are just examples though, there are other ways to brick a console....

I guess you have to talk to your ISP if you have problems often.
But many ISPs force a reconnect every 24 hours, so you might have a chance if you disconnect and reconnect your router from/to the internet just before using internet.
Also make sure your cables are OK.
Can you find out if it's only the connection to your console or the internet? (Maybe it's a problem only on your LAN side...

hi guys, im back. my friend also want to update his ps3 system. the only problem i have right now is i dont know what cfw he is using and i personally dont see it yet. all i know is his ps3 is downgraded and already updated to 4.66. can i still update it using the pattern that i used from habib to rebug? i dont know if he is usig cobra etc yet.

Yes, just like always. Remember to remove BD disc (incl. Movie), Disconnect internet, and unmount game if any is mounted. And then you can update.

Any console on CFW can be updated with any other CFW.
The type (cobra, standard..) & the flavour (Ferrox, habib, Rebug...) do not matter!

The only issue you may experience when updating is with DEX. A console running on DEX mode (Debug mode for development) cannot be updated with a CEX CFW but do not worry, if you tried you would only get an error message & the update would fail.
There are no associated risks.
Note that Habib/Ferrox/Rogero... are CEX CFW & that there are not many DEX CFW. PS3ITA releases some but mainly it is Rebug.

Rebug is a CFW that allows you to switch between CEX & DEX.
If a console is on CEX mode, you will need Rebug REX to update & if on DEX mode, you will need to use Rebug D-REX.
Both REX/D-REX PUP files can be obtained from the rebug.me website.

Perhaps you could try opening some ports up in your router for the ps3. My ps4 barely works on my Comcast x1 setup unless I open some ports on the shitty router they provide. It's easy to to, there are many utube tutorials specific to individual isp routers. You might try that for starters, it will definitely give you better download speeds, which is good for multiplayer gaming and such. Also power cycling your router at least every couple of days will help to.

You get logged out Internet automatically? How do you mean? At modem level? If it's the case the problem most likely comes either from your ISP or your DSL line installation...
What hardware are you using in terms of modem/router? Stuff provided by your ISP or your own?

At the moment there is only 2/3 4.81 standard CEX CFW & a faulty Cobra Ferrox which needs fixed.... So playing iso is still problematic to a certain extent, unless you want to install a broken Cobra....
I have no idea what your current setup is or what you wish to update to....not enough details in your post.

If I were you I would wait a little for a fixed Ferrox Cobra but if you are desperate, you can install Ferrox or Darkjiros Standard CEX & install the most recent Irisman Test build. JB games will play fine for sure.
Psnpatch still works fine & SEN Enabler has been updated as well. PSN access remains as safe as it was before apparently.

It's also possible to remain on 4.80 CFW & use SEN Enabler 6.0.3 to spoof version to 4.81 & protect your ids. However you should know that there is a new certificate in 4.81 & we don't know yet if spoofing 4.81 is as safe as before. It probably is but we are not sure yet.

As I said, you should wait. At least until Alexander fixes his Ferrox Cobra 4.81 or until someone releases a decent mamba to use with Ferrox standard CEX.

Converting to Dex (rebug4.80.1) lets you go online.
It still comes with the same warning @bguerville mentions above regarding the new certificate.
