PS2 POPStarter 2019/06/05

Consider talking to Berion so he makes you a nice design for it.
Don't take this harsh. I know coders are not usually the best designers, so teaming up with an experienced designer is the kewy to have a nice looking appliation.
If we put the weird looking interface to a side, the program is good.
Thanks for your effort.

For POPSTARTER to support exFAT you must install BDMAssault:
Learn more about POPStarter here:
Is this an updated popstarter from krhacken?
It is rather a multi-setting launcher FOR popstarter.

Learn more about POPSLoader here:
POPStarter itself has not received updates since 2020 iirc
and has since ceased all development.
You can get HugoPocked Fixes that make every game he fixes run perfect, check him out!

Are there any games from Warner Bros?
"According to the web search results, there are not many video games on PlayStation 1 that were made by Warner Bros. Games. The only ones [bing.ai] could find are:
  • Batman & Robin, a 1998 action-adventure game based on the 1997 film of the same name.
  • Animaniacs: Ten Pin Alley, a 1998 bowling game featuring the characters from the animated series Animaniacs.
  • Animaniacs: A Gigantic Adventure, a 1999 side-scrolling platform game featuring the characters from the animated series Animaniacs.
You can learn more about these games by visiting their Wikipedia page or the Warner Bros. Entertainment Wiki."

I like the wireframe icons and beige/red pallet. I hope he sticks with this direction, and it just gets the beautiful Berion refinement/UI based on it.

sorry, but i had to remove 2 of the links to the Spanish website. the downloads there also contain the actual POPS files (which are copyrighted). we can distribute POPStarter here, but not the POPS files themselves.

My apologies I should have looked more carefully. I was only familiar with the HugoPocked section and wouldn't have linked to the proprietary files knowingly. I will pay closer attention!

Whenever I run the renamed POPStarter.ELF via SMB from the game I want to play on wLE, it says: "Connecting to smb... LOGON has failed (0).".

Also, do PS1 games lag (especially on FMVs) if ran via USB?

@RandomGuy2024 Popstarter is a limited-support software emulator for the PS2. It was originally designed for 1 game in Japan but was hacked to allow more games. So yes FMV many times causes slowdown. The ps1 processor is many times used for USB support, which as we all know wasn't on the original PS1.

Hugopocked continues to hack the settings to get more compatibility, but for full 1:1 support I'd recommend an original PS1, a PC emulator such as through Retroarch, or maybe a better solution Tonyhax or Mechapwn version which gives closer to 1:1 gameplay but will wear down the laser.

Is there a PS1 softmod whoch can play backups without discs?

Popstarter is currently the best way to play ps1 games on ps2 without disks. Check out the patches made for it by hugopocked (some are free) and the trojan7 patch officially released by the creator of pops for more compatibility.

What about in general?

What are the differences between patches and trojans and is POPStarter more compatible with PS1 games if using them than if playing PS1 games on the PS3? "Some are free"? Are there paid ones? Also, I thought IGR was only for OPL.

I'm not sure about in-game reset since I don't use that. Yes, ps1 games work better on ps3 than ps2. There's near 100% compatibility.

The trojan7 patches are by the developer of popstarter. He released them as his way of saying goodbye since there won't be any more updates. Trojan7 probably isn't the best name for a patch but it patches popstarter. Hugopocked patches patch the individual games.
