Different.
MX4SIO support is only in OPL (since v1.1.0 [?]).
i.Link support is only in OPL (since v1.0.0) and PS2ESDL.
And what about running POPStarter from OPL in MX4SIO and i.LINK?

POPS and POPStarter doesn't support MX4SIO and i.Link. It doesn't matter what application will launch it, it will not get magically code for not supported devices.
Different. ;}
I have a black screen with a menu but when I use the controller the choose a setting, nothing happens.
And does POPS only support a single game?
Is PS2ESDL better than OPL?
You can try the updated version:
https://github.com/wisi-w/DKWDRV/releases/tag/1.7.2
I don't know if it has the loading from MC fixed as that is a semi-wLE bug and might need to be fixed in wLE (too).
I don't know if loading from USB will be slower but shouldn't be much slower. I think MC read transfer rate is lower than that from USB Flash but I could be wrong.
DualShock 2 should work. I have no idea why it doesn't.
If it still doesn't work, please tell me your PS2 model (SCPH-...).
I done some testing with the 75004.
I tried to boot the program from pendrive and couldn't start it (tried 3/4 times), same from mc1:\APPS, always BSOD.
Then I tried starting the program with the lid open (no disc inside) and it always started (tried 2 times in a row so far). I don't know if it's a coincidence or I'm supposed to have the lid open when starting the program? Or maybe I must have a disc spinning inside if the lid's closed?

Yes, I am.
Is POPS better than POPStarter and the others?
I suppose one must have the lid closed with the disc he/she wants to play inside or how will he/she make it work?
So, what you call a BSOD is actually a black screen with settings or in your case those didn't even show up and you have a completely black screen with nothing on it?
POPS is the emulator, POPStarter is a custom elf you need for booting (and customizing) it.
If it is so it should be specified in the readme. Other programs (like PS1VMNeg, PSXPLAUNCHER, etc...) can boot in any case (lid opened/closed disc inside or not). You can insert the disc before or after the program is started.
With BSOD I mean a completely black screen.
Is POPStarter better than PS1VMNeg and PSXPLAUNCHER? How many PS1 game loaders are there?
Is there a difference between running POPStarter from wLE or from OPL?
Then I didn't have it since it showed the program's settings.
PSXLAUNCHER is a "swap trick launcher", you can compare it to swap magic. It is obsolete since it only works from 5000X onward (so you have a better option that's MechaPWN).
There shouldn't be (I never experienced any)
So you simply lose the pad input. It never happened to me. If you didn't, try with the lid opened.
Functions slightly vary depending on the Ps2 model (if pre or post 7500X). Summing up it allows to play original discs from any region but also masterdisc patched Ps2 backups and Ps1 backups.
What's a masterdisc? Ok, but I want to avoid burned games since they wear the laser faster than legit ones (which also wear it), I think.
When I run POPStarter from wLE, it says no disc and doesn't run it.
It's a format that allows backups to work on Ps2 dek-kit
You done something wrong. Post some photos of your setting.

So, it isn't actually a disc?
What setting? Anyway, it works if I run it from OPL.
You can patch any Ps2 game as masterdisc. It was used by developers for testing game prototypes on dev-kit (and MechaPWN can patch retail consoles to dev-kit).
I guess you're using OPL fork from Ps2-Home. That's able to directly boot VCDs (Also Wle kHn can).
I am. Is there a difference between PS2-HOME's OPL and GitHub's? I think they're difference versions because GitHub's latest version is a stable one whereas my PS2-HOME's version is more recent since it's a Beta one (I guess PS2-HOME also mentioned GitHub's version).
It is the only supported disc image format by POPS/POPStater.Isn't VCD related to PS1 games? What does it have to do with POPStarter itself?
OPL DB is OPL fork, buggy and strongly not recommended to use.
You can get latest beta build of OPL from OPL's github.

It is not. Official is OPL from official OPL repository on github: https://github.com/ps2homebrew/Open-PS2-Loader/releases
I don't know, I'm not an member of this forum.
Application or device which taking input signal and upscalling it on output is upscaller. So i.e if native displayed resolution is 320x240 and app or device transform it to i.e 1920x1080, it is upscaller. TV doing it for all none native for its matrix resolutions. But we not depending on TV because he doing it in horrible way. The best results You can get via devices, quite expensive but You are not dependant of console side software and have more control over signal.
