PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

The OG Crysis is also the first game to give me artifacts in testing. It's very shader and bandwidth heavy, that's most likely why. Even a desktop GTX 7900 can only produce around 30fps in Crysis on the lowest settings.

Another great test:
Gran Turismo 6 in 1080p mode at night with full expert AI and rain. Also exactly repeatable because you can save a replay.

Will test GT6 at these conditions right now ;) SS5 it is :D
I also have all the DiRT games and all the GRiD games. I even have FUEL.

Edit: GT6 with fog and rain, 11 AI drivers is working perfectly, over 50 FPS at all times!!!!

Bayonetta (29 max, 25 average in this scene) in the start it stays a little at 19 fps. later it the fight it gets 30~38fps, but i don't know on stock

I have a friend who is experiencing artifacts and broken textures in GTA V at the default overclock settings of 600/750. Interestingly, they seem to be the only one I know encountering this issue with the default overclock.
What kind of model does he have? I don't really believe that a 40nm RSX will be unstable at 600/750

All that at night is also important. Under these conditions I barely get over 40fps

Unfortunatelly, AC Black Flag is also having some smaller memory artifacting. But the game is over 30 FPS at all times(mostly 40+) which is very nice. I believe the GDDR3 memory on my 2504 system is unable to hold it on these more demanding games. Core overclock is still in question. Coming for 800/800 tomorrow :D

Remember that 800 core is already a 60% overclock, which is basically unheard of for GPUs and you already run into other bottlenecks.

I just tested Black Flag here, no issues on both of my systems... try the 750Mhz memory instead of the 800Mhz.

So we can see if the problem in yours is memory or core.

I think the proper test case would be, trying all 3 RSX revisions in same and intense gaming sessions, like 24 hour race in GT and then doing a system update for example. also the difference between low and high temps should be considered

Wow, this is incredible, I never imagined that the PS3 could have so much power like this.

There is a game that demands a lot from the console and it would be cool to try it, it is Far Cry 3

Hm, interresting, so this game is not RSX demanding but CELL, the fps are pretty much the same as i'm getting.

Yeap for reference we can use GOW games as they are RSX demanding as my tests showed and the overclock is really making a difference.
Makes sense though. If you don't touch the SPEs as a developer, the main PS3 CPU is really anemic.

We shouldn't OC the first RSX revision at all. That would be like lightning a fire on a bomb with a short fuse.

I would like to test some games at 700/750, can someone send me a .pup please ?
Got a CECH-2004B, 65nm RSX, so 700/750 is probably the max it can endure.
I'm already using it with 600/750 OC and temps are really good.

(And yeah, of course, I won't blame anyone if my PS3 become a burned potato :) )

Nice ! :D
I'll do some testing tonight (actually 10:25 AM in France while I'm typing this) and share results here.

Any RSX intensive game in this list ?
(Not on this list but I can test Asura's Wrath and Metal Gear Rising Revengeance)

It's the memory. 750/750 works, 750/800 introduces artifacting. I want to test 800/800 too, tho, do you maybe have the .PUP?

So I have noticed that the 700/850 work perfectly for me. But I haven't tested so many games yet, but I'll report on them later, I have a lot of work to do at the moment.
