PS3 Project RSX Boost: Overclock your Retail PS3 RSX Speeds (ps3 cfw only)

I have decided that I will keep it online until tonight 20 o'clock German time. I make the compromise that you write to me by PM. As always, at your own risk, so that there are no more bricks to people to underestimate the risk.

Do you by any chance have 700/800 that i could try?

CFW 4.90 PEX 650/750 at 62C. I have delided and repasted my GPU and CPU So i would really like to try the next step :)

What model is it? Fat models don't like to OC that much so you should be very, very careful. I can give you a 700/750, a 650/800 and a 700/800 file, just be aware that in the event of a brick, it is your own responsibility.

for those having problems running mfwbuilder, you could look at my RSX OC patch task and then manually patch lv1.elf with hexeditor for all flavours seperately. then you can use PUAD 2.5 from Evilnat, just to replace lv1.self for each OC

you have to keep in mind, RSX core clock multi increments 50MHz steps, where memory clock multi increments at 25MHz steps each time

Any idea ?
maybe this helps further?

to manually patch lv1, decrypt it first. then search original pattern "0a02000000a10000000000001a04"
explanation:
the very first 0x0a value determines core clock multi and the ending 0x1a value determines memory speed multi. so a 0x0b value would increase the core clock speed upto 550MHz (default 500MHz!) and a 0x1b value would result in 675MHz memory clock speed (default 650MHz!)

core -> 50MHz increment
memory 25MHz increment

I would really like to try the 700/750 first if possible. I still think it is a little bit unclear how to generate my own CFW :apathy:

first off, sad to hear that and my condolence. I dunno if @Evilnat has applied appldr sig-patch, but if so, you could try FSM with dongle, to see if it can boot. the sig-patch will let you exit FSM on 4.xx. will try it on my DECR with 65nm to cross-check and see how it goes
Thank you !
I didn't know this method, I'll check that.

now I think of it, this probably is not very helpful at all, cause you cannot do anything in FSM on 4.xx, so in the end it would only let you boot PS3.

if you like risks and PS3 still boots in FSM, you could try to update firmware from FSM XMB, but beware, this will lead to RSOD and softbrick, so you have to use a patched firmware and fix afterwards. Evil's CFW's are all patched
- this is all theoretical as a last resort, so no guarantee

Do you think that FSM will ignore that the RSX is crashing?

Maybe a custom lv2diag.self that can ignore it could be made?

As soon as lv2 wants to complete the rsx init (even before the display gets a signal) the PS3 crashes.

No way to control mhz with a "menu" and a simple reset of the cfw? And ps3 store 2 fw right? Exist a way to read other "safe" fw if the other one softbrick?
Something like "priiloader" on wii.

dunno myself, but I am just thinking about this DEX police siren brick. on 3.55, it was possible to force flash a DEX CFW/OFW on CEX with FSM and it would work just fine. but now, as soon as you would leave FSM, the PS3 does this awful siren (10 beeps or so) and bricks

Maybe a custom lv2dialog.self that can ignore it could be made?
I have tried to create one desperately and lost patience. though, I have not tried to create a spu binary, which I was told should work

Do you know if by chance the Jaicrab Preloader lv2diag.self could work? it can dump and restore both nand, nor, and dev_flash.

Currently, there's no known method for reloading/resetting the lv1 to adjust clock frequencies on the fly. The current method relies on patching the entire .PUP file rather than implementing a vsh menu.

If a method is discovered, it would offer the possibility of safer adjustments. If the console were unable to hangle the frequencies, a simple reboot could restore default values.

Yeap, we could switch between the RS0/RS1 banks, but as you can see, the lv2 crashes if the rsx fails to initialize.

Maybe cobra payload can detect a crash and switch between the banks or something like that

@Evilnat is the right person to ask
