So start a new game and skip the movie. Then leave the controller alone. When Sarah stands up she'll be facing a mirror. That's been a standard test spot in TLOU for the last few years and most of us that test temps and FPS us it as out baseline. So pleas use it as well or we won't be talking about the same consistent setup/workload.

That's all good, I was just testing what ajthenoob requested. I've given this a shot too and the fps counter reports between 38.76 - 38.94 when running at 850/950!

Proceed step by step.
A 100MHz jump is risky at this point.
It's better to be safe than sorry.

These are all PEX CFW, I just forgot to rename some of them.

how to know if a VRAM clock is unstable ? I get artefacts if the core speed is too high but I'm not sure what to look for in the case of VRAM. Will it just crash ?
It can crash but VRAM will show artifacting too if pushed too much.

I heard someone say that CELL overclock isn't out YET. That's quite interesting, because Sony and IBM were boasting about having CELL Processors running at 4GHz, which might imply that we have quite some headroom over CPU frequencies too, just like GPU.

However, in my honest opinion, a way HAS to be found to have greater control over the overclocks and make them more versatile if possible, so that people can overclock in full safety.

This will be especially important if CELL is ever overclocked, because a CPU instability makes the system totally unable to boot in most cases, so people without a hardware flasher won't even have a chance of saving their console.

I swear this is one of the best games I've played in my life plus packs all perfomance and a constant FPS!! :) Nothing so far, no crash. Zero artifacts amd I'm running 750/1000(2504B)Let me resume lol Yakuza zero can wait :) :) people who played the game may I please see feedback on how it's holding

Final game I'm testing for you guys then I'll check from time to time for anything new. But my final verdict will be after completing the game
Hey Final verdict. @Mitsu™ I played MGRR for 3hours yesterday and no crash or artifacts on my 750/1000 2504B and surprisingly this game temps are very low there was a point I reinstalled the OC maybe thinking it's not working lol, thanks for suggesting a good game for test I'm enjoying it :D

That's great ! :D
And the Metal Gear Rising Revengeance propaganda works as intended :cool2:

Besides, it confirms the NEC Tokins limitation thing for 20XX models, as MGRR easily support higher than 650MHz core clocks when these capacitors are not involved !

Hello Tanzu, how many MHz can my PS3 Slim 2004a Model Max be? And I Will Buy Ps3 Slim 2504B Series. How Many Mhz Do These Models Do Max?
25xx models can do anywhere from 700/900 to 900/1000 at the best silicon lottery. But the average will do 700/900. But honestly no one should ever use 1000 memory unless you want to risk a Insta brick. 950 is the highest anyone with a 25xx slim should try. 950 seems to be a safe test. If it artifacts, then you can install the 900 memory and be fully stable. If everyone can follow this one rule of never even attempting 1000 from 950, 90% of people will avoid bricks. The core 50 at a time will give signs of instability in crysis HD. While the memory could be fully stable at 950 and a push to 1000 will cause a brick. So be careful people. 1000 is a silicon lottery winning memory. But it's not worth the risk. Unless you got money to burn or a flasher to recover them.

I've been playing for hours using 700/900 and I noticed no issues, I think I'm just gonna stick with that and not be greedy lol
I would try 750. You might be able to easily do that. Memory is the one that can give no warnings before a brick. The core gives plenty warning. Just my two cents.

I tried 750/900 and the games do appear to work fine but when I try to exit to XMB the PS3 randomly crashes and I have to unplug it because not even long pressing the on/off button worked

I've got a 2501A and have been using 600/750 for several months now with no issues. Going to now try 650/800 and test that out before moving any higher.

This model takes overclocking like a champ, my thermals barely changed introducing the overclocked firmware and it's basically been like free performance. I've been impressed with the performance increase of 600/750 and am thinking 650/800 should get me close to a consistent 30fps for capped titles and better performance overall.

I've read that a Cell overclock is possible, does anyone know more about this? My attempts to find more information have had thin results. Am just thinking what kind of performance a Cell + RSX overclock combo would be capable of.

So far I've been quite impressed, paired with an SSD the difference between stock and overclocked is instantly noticeable, I can't wait to see what 650/800 is capable of!

Thanks to all the hard work that has gone into this, it's much appreciated and very impressive.

Here you gan go for it but be careful mine was dead bricked at 950mhz

You're a gentleman and a scholar, thank you so much for creating and providing links to these.

What firmware are they built on, Evilnat 4.91? I'll be updating from his 4.89 600/750 firmware and just want to make sure I know what I'm updating to.

I think 650/800 is the next logical step, I don't want to push it too hard as I've been impressed with the performance increase already and have had zero stability issues, I think 650/800 would make for a nice middle ground.

Are you trying crysis HD? That game will tell you instantly if you're stable or not.

No I haven't tried that one, I will try it tomorrow. Anyway I'm back to 700/900 and no more random crashes when exiting to XMB, the games I've been testing are Castlevania Lords of Shadows, Dark Souls 2 and The Last of Us.
There's a gain of 8-9 fps in intense moments in Lords of Shadows so around 32 fps average.
Dark Souls 2 now runs a bit closer to the Xbox 360 version with a gain of 7-8 fps in intense moments so it never dips below 30 in most cases, in less demanding areas it goes up to the 50s.
