PS2 CONFIG Database

PS3 PS2 CONFIG Database v1.0

a) Ok, thanks! So... you mean that when I launch a PS2 game directly from XMB (without using webMAN to mount it), it loads config files from PS2CONFIG?

When you mount a PS2 game through webMAN MOD, it first look into PS2CONFIG database (the folder in /dev_hdd0/game) if the game doesn't have one CONFIG file already in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO. It gets the game ID from the file name (if not it tries to get it from the ISO). Then it searches the database and copy the CONFIG with the same name of the ISO + ".CONFIG"

The rest is done by Cobra payload. If the game has a <file-name>.ISO.CONFIG, the payload applies that config to fix the game.

If the game is a .BIN.ENC, the config file is also searched in the ENC folder of the database. If it is found the config is copied to /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO. The encrypted config is copied to the PS2 Classics launcher when the game is mounted.

Ummm, thanks, but I don't know what is 'PS2 Classics launcher'. I don't use any program to launch PS2 games. Maybe is the PS3 internal PS2 emulator?

Anyway, as I only play a few PS2 games which are already installed with its config file, I will delete that folder.

Thanks for you help Aldo!

Just for your knowledge (and others reading this thread).

The PS2 Classics Launcher (aka PS2 Classics placeholder or PS2 ISO Launcher) is only needed when you have a set of encrypted PS2 games (.BIN.ENC) stored in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO and use a backup manager like webMAN MOD or PS2 Classics Manager to mount them.

If your PS2 Classics were installed as standalone PSN icons on XMB, you don't need the PS2 Classics Launcher.
The PS2 game is started directly by XMB. The games that need a fix, require the CONFIG copied in the USRDIR of the game.

If your games are ISO, they only work on CFW and require a backup manager to mount them, but the PS2 Classics Launcher is not needed.

So.. just for my knowledge: can I use PS2 Classics Launcher with HEN and play my encrypted PS2 games from the external HDD? I tought that it's not possible with HEN.

EDIT: Well, now I see that you said that encrypted PS2 games must be stored in /dev_hdd0/PS2ISO, so no external HDD option. I guess that is why I ended up using PS2 Classics GUI two years ago: if games must be in the internal HDD, I prefer install them with a pkg, because that way there is no need to mount image and use any other program.

@John1971 Name your iso/config like this:

*game name*.iso
*game name*.iso.CONFIG

For example:

True Crime - NYC.iso
True Crime - NYC.iso.CONFIG

This is in dev_hdd0/PS2ISO. Also make sure CONFIG is capitalized. Afaik every letter has to be capitalized or else it will not work.

Kuri Kuri Mix doesn't need a config. Also, test Commando Strike Force and report back if you still can. I am curious about it. ;)

Im totally lost
I read s different thing how the PS2 game should be named , wich one is the good accurate one between thoses ?

---SLES_512.58.007 NIGHTFIRE
---007 NIGHTFIRE[SLES_512.58]
---007 NIGHTFIRE.ISO.SLES_512.58

Your 3 options are bad. The .ISO extension should included at the end.

These names should be fine:
007 NIGHTFIRE [SLES_512.58].ISO
007 NIGHTFIRE [SLES-51258].ISO
007 Nightfire (SLES-51258).iso
007 NIGHTFIRE [SLES_512.58].BIN.ENC

Notice that there is a space before the square bracket or the parenthesis.

I recommend that you put the CONFIG file manually, downloaded from https://ps3.aldostools.org/ps2config.html

Name the CONFIG like the ISO file name + .CONFIG (all letters in caps)
e.g. 007 Nightfire (SLES-51258).iso.CONFIG

If you want to let webMAN MOD copy the config automatically, it is required to check the option "Auto CONFIG" found in /setup.ps3
The option is hidden by default. You need to expand the section "Scan for content" to see the setting.

¿AnyBody can help me?

are you talking about me?:ambivalence:
Its nothing about you Nastty dont worry ;)
he mean that the game need to be fixed with a Config File that no one have been able to create for this particular game.
you have to refer to the PS2 to PS3 compatibility list here :
https://www.psdevwiki.com/ps3/PS2_Classics_Emulator_Compatibility_List

But everything is possible for people who really want
Scarface was UNPLAYABLE for YEARS and with the help of talented guys here on PSX-place they fixed the game by creating a Config File for it :) ...so maybe in 2022 we could see this title having a fix too , who know.... :)

EDIT : I dont know what "GX" mean but generally i would wait to see a "CUSTOM" Config to appear....
if the game is UNPLAYABLE i dont know why somes "GX" Config are on this list :

I cannot do that i have 113 PS2 ISO installed in the HDD

You didnt had a pkg file that contain all the config files that i could inject in a single shot ?
I dont know where they go but if i rename all my 113 ISO with a .ISO at the end and do the "AUTO CONFIG" Scan (and save it)
I mean the LATEST PKG containing all PS2 Config will be detected and 113 games will find/associate with their Config (if necessary) ???

You either have to rename your ISO files or hex edit the CONFIG file to match your file names. Not much can be done about that I'm afraid.

Yes.
the best i can do it manually rename each game already installed with a ending .ISO

I will be okay to inject the lastest PS3 Config pkg ??

Auto CONFIG can do it for each game launched (if the game id can be detected from the file name or from root directory of the ISO).

Lo siento, no puedo ayudar más, supongo ...

este juego en particular está roto sin configuración, confía en mí, no encontrarás una configuración que funcione para él. aún no ha salido, debe ser por una razón técnica que no sé
Well then I'll have to wait for it to come out :( hahah thanks
