PS2 PS2 DVD Player modifications

Off topic, but I've seen your video and why does wLaunchELF take 42 seconds (!!!) to run ? Is the wLE ELF not packed, or it's the "clone" memory card that sucks that hard ?

No idea
It doesn't really bother me that much
I'm just trying to watch this movie

Could it be a Macrovision signal on a CSYNC line tricking the monitor's AGC? To be honest with, I see nothing wrong in your video. For me, it just looks like a mismatch between recording a 50 Hz signal using a 30/60 fps camera. But if you experience a brightness change, try a PS2/PS1 PAL game to check if there are any problems with the signal. If there are, then I will not help you any further, since I'm not a technician. ;)

Thanks for the reply
I'm not really sure, but I'm beginning to think it's a cable problem
The cheap AV to SCART cable I bought on eBay regularly shorts out on me
I'm hoping the more expensive, grounded "Sync on Luma" cable I ordered recently fixes the problem

Watch the movie in daylight. Maybe you are not familiar with 50 Hz signals and watching them when the 60 Hz light source is near (assuming you are from U.S.), gives your headache.

Of course, in my previous post, I meant a sync on a composite video signal, not a CSYNC (combined sync signals only). Your monitor does not manifest sync problems, so spending 40 dollars for a cable is an overkill (BTW, looks like a r3tr0 g4m3rz community is an another sect after a audiophiles or anti-vaxers and so on).

I respect your opinion, and I'm sure you know quite more about these things than I do
But I already spent the money and it seemed like a solid investment
As I mentioned, the $10 cable I bought on eBay is utter crap, and $40 isn't very much to never have to worry about it again
But I really do appreciate you responding and trying to help me through this admittedly trivial problem of mine lol

How should I do it? where should i put the files?

Would it be possible to use this to play games from other regions? for example I have a PS2 region PAL, could with this program play NTSC games?

This is a DVD video player isn't related to games. You can use OPL for games (it can boot games from any region, as any other homebrew launcher).

entonces, ¿es imposible reproducir un disco ntsc en un ps2 pal, sin un modchip?

Translation:
so, is it impossible to play a ntsc disc on a ps2 pal, without a modchip?

Yes, there are different methods depending on the Ps2 model.
If you have a 5000X or newer the best way is MechaPWN. If you have a 3900X or previous there are only the old, usual swap trick ways.

Could you explain to me how do I install this on the hard drive with free hd boot?

installation method are explained in the first page at the columns: "How to install it on MC" and "Run it from USB"

I think it's not possible atm to run this from HDD.

The exploit MechaPwn uses is installed onto the NVRAM, not anywhere else!
Just execute the ELF from USB via wLE.

The message "DVD Player was not setup correctly" can be related to the CMOS battery??
Sometimes I can play DVDs and sometimes it gives me that error.

I don't think so. I always get that message (if MechaPWN is installed) and my 75004 has a perfect battery (unplugged from the AC power it keeps the date and time for months).

The fact that you get the message only sometimes is strange. First time I heard this behavior.

It happened using the same DVD video (sometimes it starts, sometimes doesn't), or different ones (some DVDs always start, and others never)??

The same DVD video, It´s a SCPH-50004.

I think I´m going to replace the battery.
