PS2 PS2 DVD Player modifications

Ok, it doesn´t work still the same message. If the keys from "osdmain.elf" are tranfered incorrectly the DVD won´t load, but sometimes it does, so resigning "dvdplayer.elf" it´s not the problem.
Very strange all of this :apologetic:

Before installing MechaPwn you ever had similar problems on this Ps2?

I have never installed MechaPwn, I´m talking about upgrading to 3.11J the DVD player.
MechaPwn solves that message?

Not at all, MechaPWN is the cause of "DVD player isn't installed" error message most PAL users are experiencing (maybe it affects all Ps2 slims models, not sure about 5000X), you can take a look at MechaPWN git-hub issues page (either opened and closed ones) for making an idea.

I don´t know if it´s that or not but sometimes the DVDs are played and sometimes not, that´s what makes it strange.
Maybe the memory card when loading "dvdplayer.elf"??

@krHACKen Please, could you add something on the guide?
In "How to install on MC" tab at the 6th step, I think it'd be good mentioning that the folder must be in the same MC where B?EXEC-SYSTEM\osdmain.elf is.
I know it is in the readme, but some people could just follow the guide on this thread (like I was doing) not knowing about it.

Even putting the file on the other MC, the DVD player name (3.11 RPC 1) correctly shows up, so one could think of some other issue/conflict causing the "dvd player isn't installed" error.

I made tutorial half year ago: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/updating-dvd-player.35864/ but for now there is app which simplified the process.

@Peppe90 It must be the same MC because this is how Magic Gate signing works. For the same reason FMCB will not work on different card without signing it to target card. And for the same reason every kind of software which utilize OSD Update, have this limitation.

I see, thanks for the explanation.
However the guide is easy to understand for everyone, but not everyone is aware of these things.
In my case, I use the MC on Slot 2, only for FMCB stuff (hombrews, etc...) and it was almost full. So I instinctively installed the DVD Player on Slot 1 MC (also because sometimes I used to remove the FMCB card, when using MechaPWN stuff or watching a DVD video).

Could you make a 3.04M bootable from MC? I want to launch DVD Video from PCSX2 Linux version and there is no usb folder, no DVD player :D
Kelf method does not working

PCSX doesn't support to run any encrypted executables because of legal issues. So no OSD Update from memory card images and disk images.

Actually, Playing DVD is possible with 90001 BIOS + Some previous version of DVD Player (I've found standalone elf). Another issue - no sound in Linux, sound works with Windows, but EE is overloaded, LOL.

the DVDPLayer files on this package are quite odd.. they can barely be authenticated, but cannot be bound by the console (Only the twinsigner method described on the original post...)

In order to bind these updates with KELFBinder 2 or any homebrew that uses special SECRMAN (binding from console itself)
The KELF files must be decrypted and re-encrypted with KELFTool

In order to automate that, I made this script, it iterates on all .elf files on any sub-folder under the same directory than the .bat file and re-encrypts them all as DNASLOAD MC KELFs

NOTE: this was written with this package in mind... all the KELF files are re-signed and written back to their original folder as DVDPLAYER.XLF, therefore, each folder should have only one .elf file...

Paste it on the MC folder of the package of this thread.

In order for the script to work. you need to past kelftool dnasload fork on the same folder or under a path listed on %PATH%
