That's better than what i said :)

Turning on by itself cold be caused by several reasons, but turning off is not so usual

Maybe some interference with the ps4, i was playing it when it happened, when i turned the ps4 off it stopped lol ( but never happened before)

it happened 5 times, the ps3 turned itself on, loaded the xmb and turned off by itself ( like if the power off options has been selected, it turned off slowly, not like if the power has been cut) , since i'm not messing with the ps4 it stopped o_O

H! thank you for this great mod. one of my friends can't use it on 4.85 OverFlow CFW. installs the pkg file but nothing shows on the menu. he tested with ver 4 and 4.1 ,4.2 .any idea what causes the problem?

Be ready for a Blackout mates, i remember my 2504B turning itself off at random times, i never catched in act, but when i always left the console to idle like downloading titles from PSN, which took a large amount of time, or left the console for a few hours, i would catch it in Standby Mode, when clearly i didn't even touch the thing.

At first i thought it was the Power Settings, and these were turned off, and then the HDMI LINK, even that was disabled, so right then my suspicious were starting to arise, after onde day the damn thing decided to shutdown slowly on the XMB, first a loose of the video signal, and 7/10 sec, followed by a power cut, and the LED slowly faded, and the rest its history.

A noob question since I installed 4.1 and now 4.2 is out
Should I uninstall 4.1 and then install 4.2 or just update 4.1 to 4.2
Will the updates work with new addons??

You can update it just intalling it again

in the next update could you add a priority pkg for ps2 classics manager placeholder and a few psp games launchers(remasters, mini) since both of them always get stuck at the bottom on xmb

It is already implemented since v.1.2

It install some Add-ons in you packages folder, so you just need to choose them

If you install 4.2 you loose the changes you have made for example changing some icons or renamed titles?

What do you mean? Which icons and titles did you change? if you have made modded rcos files it will be replaced ofc

something very odd happened when i tried this
so i downloaded the HEN pkg installed it and ran it choose to install ps3 pro not 4k one
after it finished the app just stayed on the background no text could still see X and [ ] on one corner of the screen
held PS button to quit went back to xmb everything was fine all very pretty and all, after this i rebooted the console.
decided to uninstall it soon after because

1.wtf is boost mode cant find any info on it (excuse my language)

2. you dont get to choose what you install and what you dont, dont want ps4 sounds and coldboot and the extra stuff on xmb and the extra resolution on display settings (does that even work?!) i only wanted the waves and the colors

3. so here's the weird thing when i open the app again to uninstall it said firmware change detected deleting backups or something like that.
still went ahead into ps3 pro and choose uninstall. am back on xmb and everything seems fine should i re-install HFW just to be safe ? i mean everything seems fine but i dont know

if you install the 4K pro mod then update your ps3 and click on 4K pro mod icon you will see that message firmware change detected all your backups will be deleted if you want only wave, background color then you just need to extract lines.qrc from

USRDIR\apps\2. PS3 Pro 4K\All-All-English\PS3~dev_blind~vsh~resource~qgl

here it is copy it to /dev_blind/vsh/resource/qgl/

lines.qrc

it also didnt remove it completely, there still was a ps3 pro theme installed in the same way as the 3 stock ones so i had to re-install HFW and HEN wich isnt much of an issue but still. also after a quick google search i found this by cypher

Some lines.qrc file's that people have messed about with too much can do some wierd things to a PS3. I have seen random crash's, softbricks and nearly permabricks with them, some of them I was experimenting with (ie the one that nearly bricked one of my PS3's lol, stupid me), but most was using lines.qrc file that are already out there, this was one of the reason's I started to make my own ones.
so i might wanna stay away from lines.qrc since i dont have a flasher should something happen and i dont feel like restoring the system either.

There's nothing wrong with the lines.qrc file from this mod, infact I still have the HEN version of this mod installed on my HEN SuperSlim. My CFW PS3's have my own XMB mods installed, eg lines.qrc files

I think your taking what I said about lines.qrc files a bit out of context in this case as if this mod did anything like this I would of reported it as I was one of the first people to test the v3 CFW and HEN versions that used this lines.qrc file.....

i didnt mean the lines.qrc from this particular mod. i meant those you might find somewhere online that might do a brick as you said and if it happened am basically screwed since i dont have a flasher. i literally googled lines.qrc and in a YT video there were comments about ppl bricking their console installing those lines.

i quoted you more from my knowledge that messing with flash witouth knowing what your're will lead to a brick. and since i know next to nothing about xmb icons rco xml xregistry etc all i have is people like you to guide people like me as to what to do, not that i have a reason to belive am being mislead into screwing my console so i like to take the safe route since i have no way to un-do whatever i messed up.

Max thing i face when i edit lines.qrc is soft-brick only i reinstall fw and all is OK

You can delete the full dev_flash and it will lead you only to a softbrick that you will still be able to recover it by reinstalling the firmware

so whats the per console info thats so sacred to avoid bricks during flashing, where is it located ? are dev_blind and and dev_rewrite the same ?

per console info are in ps3 flash (NAND/NOR) and for clarification dev_blind is the same as dev_rewrite (both are dev_flash mounted to new partition with write permission only diffirence is name)

ok, so if per console info is in the NOR/NAND. is dev_flash locate there aswell? i know part of it is in flash NOR the rest is on HDD since nor size is smaller that NAND or is it in another partiion ? what must i absolutely not touch in HEN in flash ? ar can i mess with anything and just re-install firmware
