PS3 PS3HEN 3.4.0 + HFW 4.92 - Officially released by esc0rtd3w of Team PS3Xploit

PS3 Developer @esc0rtd3w has released the latest update to PS3HEN with support to recent firmware update of 4.92. Along with the PS3HEN update is the release of Hybrid Firmware (HFW), which is just an official firmware (4.92) with the "silk_webkit.sprx" file replace from 4.82 OFW (that has a vulnerability patched in 4.83 OFW, the last attempt Sony made to curb homebrew). HFW was created by @Joonie and has been apart of this 4.92 release of well.

There have been a number of new changes in this update marked v3.4.0 as it does not just provide 4.92 support but various changes as seen in the changelog provided

When we see the release of @bguerville's PS3 Toolset very soon for 4.92 we will see an alternative method for PS3HEN user's with the new File Explorer feature, that will provide expanded features to the toolset for all, one of them for PS3HEN user's being the ability to replace the "silk_webkit.sprx" file without the need of HFW installation. More on that will revealed when we see the 4.92 update roll out for the ps3 toolset.

If its added in the PUP file, I think the best way to do it is to make another PUP file for the other PS Home projects to include their PS Home PKG. Then users can easily choose which PS Home project to install.
The only way I can currently think of to please multiple people is to leave the one devil wanted added as the default (since without him we wouldn't have this discussion in the first place), and make a new menu in HFW Tools for choosing different PS Home options and having it copy the appropriate files depending on which is chosen.

If you want to compile a list of each one and post xml files, including descriptions, URL, etc, I can add them. It would also be nice to have icons :)

I dont really even know what all these acronyms mean for each. But I will make them available in a more streamlined way, if that seems reasonable.

That would actually be a good idea and I can send you the info you need for installing HHQs PS Home PKG (Home Headquarters) but where can I do that? Is discord good?

You can pm on here. But what about the others? If we're adding more, we may as well add them all.

I need the files to be in a format similar to how it is now as far as the XML is concerned, just so its easier to switch between all of them. What I mean is, you can take the registory.xml and category_psn.xml from 3.4.0 HEN and add whatever you need for your version of PS home to work.

If you require additional setup or files, I think most of that can be handled on the pkg side.

Edit: If other things need changed, I think we could just display it on xmb in text of what needs done, similar to how we used to put the changelog in hen, until we switched to the js embedded style.

Edit2: If you have icons for psn column entry or HFW Tools entries, I can include those icons in the hen pkg.

I just kinda skimmed the "problem" here. if the issue is what to include, maybe include a way to download what you want from a repo on github or something. I don't know if those new certificates for 4.92 allow this (this is something I'm ignorant on), but they may allow downloading directly from github if their ssl+ has been updated or something. I know not everyone is interested in the same stuff, which is probably why I've been too lazy to make a mod pkg of some sort, probably never will. I just do stuff for each individual, actually.

I wish I could PM you on here but I can't. I can only post in the starting line and all my messages here (including this one) has to be manually verified.

When I made the mistake of working with Splicewave last year.. I had told him that I was trying to get Home back onto the XMB, and at that time was going to be HHQs pkg that got added, Because I was hoping we could all work together.

When that was going to be the case, There was no mention of "fairness" or "balance" or "equity"..or making it easy for other groups, From ANY of the HHQ team.

Here is how Splicewave felt about the fairness of there being just one link on the XMB back then When he thought maybe HIS one might be the only pkg:

Of course they are pissed at us. I can only imagine how salty they are going to be when its on HEN

I cant wait for them to find out about it also coming to HEN when it does but only after then

That easy way of installing my V10.2 on PS3HEN is the perfect 'f*ck you DH' we could give.

I reckon the same day it is announced, DH are gonna find out and they are gonna be PISSED
splicewave 2024-06-13 10:45:00 said:
I wont tell them but when it goes live and the tweets about the new changes goes out, someone is gonna post a link to it in DH

Then I hope the HEN and CFW updates are the final nail in the coffin for them

Now, when the shoe is on the other foot so to speak. You attack me here and say me adding this link that I have wanted to add for years, I spoke to Destination Home about this back in 2019, But now this idea I have had for 6+ years is called:
  • disingenuous
  • unfair
  • zero outreach
  • outright removal
  • falsely marketing itself
  • scheme their way to building up a community
  • manipulating links
  • forcibly directing users
  • Integrity is important after all
  • manipulative design of your making
  • you have not acted in either. (fairness and good faith)
  • This must be rectified
  • misleading involved on your part
  • underhandedly advocated
  • forced it on everyone else
  • completely unjustified and incomprehensible

So I have two question for the HHQ staff, what changed and who is really the "disingenuous" one here?

Oh hey, I nearly forgot i had an account on here, might want to update this profile picture. Anyways, I wanted to give my two cents on this currently-unfolding situation.

While I have no control over HEN or its features, I do believe that simply leaving it how it is would be the best course of action rather than trying to add a new multi-Home menu. After all, if it's any more complicated, that'll reduce the number of interested users. Additionally, other communities appear to be, at least in my personal opinion, too immature to be featured.

Home Headquarters creates new accounts on here to try and attack the feature when it's not all about them (and doesn't know enough to actually provide HEN with the required files for what they're requesting), and Destination Home calls it "Dead stupid bias" and "not the original experience" when one - they see no issue with online promotion that only mentions them, and two - they also use this same Home version internally.

Ignoring the technical details such as whitelist and required alternate DNS setups, linking to Home Laboratory here was a good call and it really doesn't need to be complicated any further. Home was originally launched by just selecting it on the XMB, so anything more complicated than that might drive some people away.

It's not added in the PUP, it's just a query in the XML that downloads the PKG.

IMO, Providing multiple home clients would be confusing for end users. HL is the only home server that doesn't require a DNS change due to its QA build for all, which helps avoid a lot of trouble for users. Additionally, it is a true open-source project, unlike DH.

From a development perspective, HL is also the best choice, as they build everything themselves, ensuring continuous fixes and improvements. It also offers fantastic tools like RTM, among others.

Another important factor is the reputation of DeViL303, who has consistently contributed to numerous projects, including HEN and his own, and is well known in the community.

In conclusion, HL is the best choice due to all its advantages.

Personally, I use both HL and HHQ, and I would like to see them cross-play someday. Ideally, all home servers (HHQ, DH, HL, etc.) should support it, but it's not that simple, and as you know, and DL has a whitelist.

Meanwhile advanced and experienced users can still download and use other Home servers by their own.
Downloading if you want is really the best choice. I didn't realize it was an option. I haven't tested evilnat 4.92 or hen though, so I thought some people's issue was it being included by default. Thanks for the information, my friend.

Hello I have a question idk if this right forum or place to ask (I'm new) but anyway I wanna sort out my game's by alphabet' and I did edit my registory.xml and I got it but hen enabler disappeared lol...does anyone know how to fix it? I would thanks for any help. :)

I agree on this, IF adding one and not another is a manipulative design. Then for true equity we should add ALL, This should also include PSORG, Destination Home and the few other servers that have popped up lately.

This might even trigger Destination Home to remove their whitelist which I think they have been considering for some time.

I will get the PSORG files as we work with them on many open source projects. They have contributed loads to developing the software that Home Headquarters and all the open source servers use.

Not really sure how that could happen. I'd imagine hen enabler is in the category_game.xml or something. Did you change anything else or use any mods?

I didn't do anything else than edit registory I found this

<Pair key="format_ascend"><String>sort=-Game:Common.stat.rating+Game:Game.gameCategory-Game:Common.timeCreated+Game:Common.titleForSort</String></Pair>

On old psx forum and yeah I used it to edit registory and it's did work but after restart PS3 hen enabler disappeared

Because you broke the xregistory.xml, the HEN entry is there in the lastest version. (For detecting a system format)

Add PSORG and DH if they want to be there, sure. Though of course with DH, they currently have a whitelist so simply installing their PS Home PKG and changing to their DNS wont work like it will with HHQ or PSORG. Anyways esc0rtd3w since I can't DM you on here, I don't know how I'm going to send you what you need for adding HHQ to that menu you're making. I might also need a copy the xml file you want me to add the HHQ stuff to.

Why can't you pm me?

The XML files are in the hen pkg.

I have telegram also

Edit: We can just add instructions in text on xmb, as stated above. I think that should be sufficient for explaining procedures.

Can someone help me?
I have a PS3 model 3001A, I've tried a few times to install HEM but it doesn't work. When I turn it off and on again, the HEM image doesn't appear. Could it be that this model 3001A doesn't have unlocking yet? I'd appreciate it if you could help me.

Why can't you pm me?
.

The simple answer, We don't run an email service, new account's have abused various aspects that being one of them. Obviously not all. but there is no perfect system. However we feel that an earned approach is better then giving full access to everything on the site. We think its a better better approach for more involved then not. That is why we are experimenting with The Starting Line forum recently as well.
