THIS POST CONTAINS THE SOLUTION TO THE ROM DIRECTORY PROBLEM!
After start icon in XMB i'v got the message " coluld not list rom directory" and exit to xmb...
- What i need to do??
I have the same problem. I use
4.84 Rebug. I am using this resigned version:
I added the folder MAME/ROMs to the root of the internal HDD (dev_hdd0) as recommended and ROMS/mame_data as read
here. I put Turtles In Time (zip-File) into it for test purpose. So I have three paths:
dev_hdd0/game/MAME90000/USRDIR (installation path)
dev_hdd0/MAME/ROMs (recommended path for the ROMs)
dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame_data (as read
here)
What did I miss? I still get the error message "
Could not list ROM directory". Is there an ini-file missing or something? I also don't want to use RetroArch. I really like the standalone versions as seen in the XMB. Need you help
Thank you very much and have a nice day!
Best regards,
TuF

EDIT: PROBLEM SOLVED!
I managed to make it work! I found a Spanish forum (thank Google Chrome and its translation options

) containing
this comment:
previamente tienes que crear en la raiz del disco duro(dev_hdd0),las siguientes carpetas:
dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame/(mete aquí las roms/bios)
_____________/mame_data/snaps/(y aquí meter los snaps/screenshots)
It says that you first have to create the following paths:
dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame (standard ROM directory)
dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame_data/snaps (directory for snapshots)
After booting the emulator afterwards it told me "
No supported games found. Please select the path to your ROMs". Now just press CIRCLE and choose the right ROM directory manually. I hope this might help one or another.
Best regards,
TuF

EDIT:
Funniest thing about my comment is that the original post says it right away

Sometimes I ask myself if I'm kind of retarded
[...]
- Install the psmame package onto your jailbroken PS3 using normal means.
- By default all data paths for mame are located under /dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame_data.
- ROMS themselves can be placed anywhere and their location chosen with the frontend. The recommended path is /dev_hdd0/ROMS/mame.
[...]
Anyway. I'm glad it works now
