PS3 PS3Xport Tool - Inject backups on 4.83/4.84 OFW

Here is a little something for those who updated to 4.83 and still want to play their backups. This works exactly the same as backup injection on 4.70, you can restore the backup directly without the need to data transfer from a second PS3.

To do this, download the attached ZIP file and extract it. Connect your USB or external hard drive containing your PS3 backup and open the tool. Now select your backup folder and place your game + patch in the "Inject\dev_hdd0\game" directory.

Select the rebuild database option on the tool (saves time) and inject the files. Once it's finished, restore the backup on your PS3.

Just to be clear, this will only work for NPDRM converted disc games, or any game that uses an EDAT license (such as C00 demos). You can find a list of compatible games on the wiki.

I am actually having some trouble with this i get a black screen on any game i try. they show up in the xmb, and one even installs required game data and initializes trophies before black screening and locking up the console.

Are the games cfw2ofw compatible?
Did you convert the games from disc yourself?
If so, what tool did you use?

yes the games are cfw2ofw compatible
i did not convert them from disc my self
and i have tried ps3 game convert and cfw2of2 helper
i believe i might be missing some steps in making the backups themselves and that the injection method does work

What do you mean you didn't convert the games yourself? Are you talking about dumping the files from the disc?
How did you actually get the game files? Are you sure they are all genuine original files from your discs?
Because if you downloaded files, you need to know that they could be patched or resigned for HAN or whatever...

I downloaded the files and did not think that they could be resigned as i am fairly new at this ... so is there anyway to tell if they have been resigned. perhaps i should not have attempted this lol.

Nope, that's the point of this tool. I made changes to allow the restoration of backups containing "invalid" EDAT files, it's much more convenient than using a second console to transfer content.
yes the dtu speed is awful. this is much faster

Well, i think that the previous 4.70 firmware backup inject exploit reappear again after Sony patched HAN functions on OFW 4.83. Past firmware versions such as OFW 4.82 requires user to use miniweb tool to inject the LIC.DAT file after restoring the backup.

Now it seems that miniweb setup might no longer needed to do so.

Thats what i mean cause 4.70+ ofw after injecting games it will show error 8001006 so no game works cause restore operation wil delete edat files that its also contains LIC.EDAT that was transfered by pett of exploit

Hey Imn7 - I've been playing round with the tool using a backup of my system on 4.83 OFW... i'm pretty sure i'm doing everything correct, as far as your instructions in the post go, but i'm having a few minor issues. Essentially everything seems to go well but I receive an error during backup. However after the backup has reverted and rebuild etc, the game I have injected is in my games list. I can then even go in and play, but depending on the game, I get stuck at certain stages. Some get stuck at a specific loading screen, some don't open at all and get stuck on a black screen on startup, eventually erroring out if I leave it for long enough (~10 minutes).

I have a feeling this may be because it is not able to restore all the files in the game directory. Do you have any suggestions of anything to try?

Also I didn't bother with IDPS mode, as it was not expressed in your initial instructions. Is this a necessity? - I have a copy of my IDPS.bin available if it is.

Sorry that's quite vague. Can provide any other info you may need!

@lmn7's project is a modded ps3xport tool allowing you to inject cfw2ofw backups into the console by inserting the cfw2ofw conversion games files including the generated license file into an official backup to restore.
To test that it works fine, you need to inject a working cfw2ofw game conversion but as long as you are not sure that the conversion is good, you cannot perform the test properly.

I already told you that we cannot help you with your downloaded games, you mentioned black screen issues among other things (same as yesterday) but you forget to mention that you are not sure whether some files have been modded or not. Afaik you have basically no idea what you downloaded in terms of game files. And it's piracy anyway, there won't be another warning about that!
As to this game you supposedly dumped & attempted to convert, how did you perform this dump? Did you use a backup manager to dump the BD files on a console on CFW? If you did, you might just as well use the cfw console to prepare the games.
