PS3 PSNpatch - Releases / Usage Information (Official Support Thread)

yes. the "new new core" is already prepared to load several different payloads, namely mamba.
But mamba is giving some issues when loaded from sys_init_osd, which must be dealt with.
(I will PM you latter with details.)

This is an incredible work ;)

Is there any advantage to using isos? I just rip my games in multiman and be done with it.

Yes, Iso is only 1-6 files (splitted on fat). I try explain but my english is poor. When you have file on hdd. Then you got file + info where files is phisycally (sectors). This info (and name) is stored in "alocation table" This table also store info about folders, paths, and more. When you have your game in iso you have ~50000 files (on internal with ps3 system files). If you have folder format games you have ~300000-400000 files (based on my 250GB hdd).

So.. Your ps3 need to check 6-8 times more data before find what is needed (if disk is bigger than my 250GB is much more). After converting my old dumps to ISO my PS3 is MUCH FASTER. Games working faster, but is good to do defragmentation after add game (for external, internal do it for you. That is why somethimes hdd led blinking slow after add delete game). One of games that are heavy for hdd is LBP3 in folder format you have 25000 FILES!

Second advantage is compatibility. Always if game have problem, after converting to iso game is working (exclude old cobra game data bug)

Wow, thanks for the detailed answer. Very much appreciated!
I wouldn't of thought that the file allocation table getting so big could have that much impact on speed.
I was thinking iso would of been the slower option. Good information to know.

Your English is rather good too! To be able to explain something so detailed so well is a tremendous effort!

Well it seems that this version of psnpatch has some issues
Here my story
I installed this version two times on habib 4.70 cfw
On the first time I uninstalled the pervious version of psnpatch 4.66.40 and I installed 4.70.02 version
I launched psnpatch and I installed psnpatch plugin and the auto execution plugin (I have forgotten its exact name) via the select menu and then I pressed cross to disable cfw syscalls and so on and so forth but when I tried to sign in in psn I was faced by the error 80710007 even that when I check psnpatch it shows that all cfw syscalls are disabled I restarted the ps3 but the problem would persist
So I said to my self maybe a clean reinstallation of habib 4.70 cfw would solve the problem so I had done that and reinstalled psnpatch but this time after installing the plug-ins of psnpatch when I try prssing cross or any other button the app would freeze
And tried rebooting the ps3 nothing happened this time when I open psnpatch it wouldn't respond to any button pressing and it stayed that way even after a reboot and a reinstallation of psnpatch
So have I done anything wrong?
And what's the problem?
Is there any fix of it?
And I am I the only one who faced this problem I very interested in knowing of any other one have the same problems like me

I haven't really used the menu myself. Just push the left and right sticks in and r2 at the same time to disable psnpatch from the xmb via the plugin.
I have however encountered a few system freezes since installing it.
Right after turning it on dead cold, froze up around the epilepsy warning.
Not sure if its related or just circumstantial though.

PSNpatch - Information / Releases

Some of the questions posted here and in other forums make me think it was a bad idea to release the non-cobra plugins and psn blocking
Why ?
Because, as always everybody start in a rush to install everything they see without previously understanding what they are doing.
A very special attention was made to detail the process, so there weren't any doubts.
I will exceptionally summarize these processes.
More details in the release notes:
A) non-CFW plugins - if something goes wrong just activate the failsafe FLAG [edited];
B) psn auto blocking - psn access will report errors until CFW is disabled using the PSNPATCH PLUGIN;
C) these 2 functions were tested only in 4.70.

I think you fulfill your part excellently and provide details psnpatch documentation. If people do not read is their problem. Thanks for your work and your time.

I have a question
When I try to connect to psn gives me error 80710007, I perform the procedure is as follows:

Load the game using Webman, then I press triangle + r2 to delete history and syscall, then l3 + r3 + r2 to disable cfw (appears the sign that says unlocked CONNECTION), but when I try to enter PSN gives me the error.

I try in darknet 4.70 cobra 7.02, 7.03 and habib 4.70 and is the same error. any idea which gives the error?
Thank You.

You are NOT following instructions !

You should use ONLY psnpatch shortcut L3+R3+R2, not webman-mod.
psnpatch already deletes history, deletes community files, disables syscalls and unlocks psn.

If you fisrt remove syscalls with webman (as your're doing), psnpatch will not be able to restore psn connection

I would like to help me make two points .

1. When I install from toolbox plugin psnpatch , Webman and addons Webman , folder app_home not go away.

2. I understand that darknet charged 4.70 7.03 brings the extension of psnpatch stealth . And I still displayed enhanced mode and no stealth mode .

Thanks for the tool.

Both points are correct. That is the expected behavior with 4.70.

Ki Hi first of all I really want to thank kokotonix for his awesome job but I'm still facing some issues with this version 4.70.02 on habib 4.70 cfw
I just wanted kokotonix to know that I have re-readed all the documents and faq in order to find a solution four times and I couldn't find one ( or maybe I'm just dumb)
Well I installed this version of psnpatch on habib cfw 4.70 and I entered the tool box pressing the select button and I installed two plug-ins
1) the psnpatch plugin
2) and auto execution plugin
And at that time I expected to see the plug-in welcome message each time I boot the ps3 ( thats what I had understood from reading the readme and faq documents) but I didn't
So I entered psn patch and each time I press select to enter the toolbox menu the program freeze and the whole ps3 freezes
And when I press the power button the green led of the power button blinks for a while and then the ps3 beeps three times and then it shutdown
After that when I power the system once again the ps3 works great but each time I repeat the same procedure the same reaction happens
So I removed psnpatch and reinstall it multiple times
And I reinstalled cfw from the recovery menu twice
And I tried the fail-safe option although I didn't understand it well but from what I've read and correct me I'm I'm wrong
1) create a file named failsafe (I did it by creating an empty text file named failsafe and then removing the txt extension
2) and then placing it in a folder named core_flags on a USB stick and then plug it on the rightmost usb port on the ps3
3) I tried after plugging the USB stick accessing the toolbox but the same problem would happen
I guess it's also important to mention that when I press cross in the psnpatch menu the ps3 would beep and it will show me that cfw sys calls are disabled
But the freeze when I press select Is the thing that worries me
And sorry if my english is not very good
I hope that I did not make a big mistake
And I hope that I'm asking a very dumb question
And thanks kokotonix for bearing me and us, psnpatch dumb users community [emoji14]

Hi Fares
Thank you for your detailed message.
First let me start by saying that we must thank KW for PSNPATCH and not myself - I'm just the messenger :)

About your issue,
The behavior your getting is most strange.
I've never seen it before..
It is perfectly acceptable for PS3 to randomly freeze at boot, but it should work ok after a reboot.
The failsafe flag creation procedure is exactly as you've detailed. But the objective is to solve PS3 freezes at startup provoked by broken plugins.
Not by the issue you are reporting.

As I've never seen the problem you have, and while I'm not able to replicate it, I believe I can only give you a limited help.
I believe you might have something between a broken plugin and a corrupted file system.

Anyway, I will start by removing any other plugins you may be using - note that the webman version that should be installed with habib 4.70 is the non-cobra variant.
Then try removing PSNPATCH.
After it I would recommend going into recovery menu, and selecting restore file system and then rebuild database. (NOT FORMAT).
Finally I would install PSNPATCH, run it, install the plugin manager, PSNPATCH and webman plugins.

kokotonix thanks for your quick response
And sorry I thought that you are the creator of psnpatch, I thought kw was a nickname of you
Anyway thanks to kw for his awesome job
I believe that you misunderstood me but the system boots up and works like a charm even playing games

It only freezes when I open psnpatch and then press select to access the toolbox

But when I open psn patch and press cross or any other button or try to use any other function of psnpatch such as installing rap files it works well

So I can't remove the plug-ins because I can't reach the toolbox menu without freezing the ps3
So my question is, is my problem known or happened before?

And is your solution still valid without removing the plug-ins
And also I'm using iris man 3.45 and It's working well with habib 4.70 normal cfw
And thanks for taking from your time to answer me [emoji1]

Yes. I understood your problem.
If you're using Irishman and mounted a game with it, a payload will stay in memory that might conflict with PSNPATCH. Try uninstalling irisman and PSNPATCH.
Do the remaining procedure I've suggested in my previous message.
Reinstall irisman in the end.

im using above set up as well but have encountered no problems. I used api manger earlier and connected to device. somehow on accident I set up webman. so I dont know if I am able to access the toolbox because of that, but I am able to do that. hit start to cancel and triangle to disable. working like a charm.

Thanks all of you for your support
I tried the suggested solutions by kokotonix but I'm still facing the same problem
But the api manager thing seems interesting
So I'm asking can I use it to disable any, let's say psn patch plugin residuals or anything like that
And any other help would be greatly appreciated

4.70.05 15/MAR/2015
 • psnpatch plugin updated to faster start-up (when locking psn access);
 • non-cobra plugin-manager updated: faster, safer, smaller and firmware independent (4.XX CEX past and future);
 • psnpatch deletes app_home from xmb in cobra but NOT in non-cobra (needed for discless start);
 • source code updated.
 • psnpatch pkg file was optimized once again: un-install psnpatch and reinstall new version to benefict from the small size.

= NOTE I:
It has always been a major objective of psnpatch to be made firmware version independent.
This will guarantee that once a new firmware is released, we wouldn't need to wait for KW to release a new psnpatch version as the one already available would be compatible.
Almost everything was made this way: From the CFW disabling, to the IDPS spoofing, passing trough plugin compatibility or rap installs.
The plugin manager for non-cobra WAS not YET like this: A payload for every firmware version was needed.
With the new changes NOW included in 4.70.05,
PSNPatch will "patch" the payload to the currently running firmware version, hopefully making it "firmware independent" as all the other functions.

= NOTE II:
Some users asked for a ISO loading in non-cobra.
This is not impossible, in fact, loading MAMBA for the job at start-up is easy and works.
But, it does not make sense in psnpatch scope:
Plugin loading in non-cobra firmwares opens the door for non-cobra firmwares to load plugins at boot,
like psnpatch plugin (for things like auto block psn and disable cfw from XMB)
or even a lightweight version of webman to load folder format games.
From here, plugins developers can do whatever they fit appropriate.
In my opinion, what is offered for non-cobra is already very nice.
When we want ISO, NET loading, PS3MAPI, and whatever more we can get from cobra ... we go for cobra :)
