PS3 PSNpatch - Releases / Usage Information (Official Support Thread)

Hi kokotonix.

Really happy of this update of my favorite hide secure tool.

In your faq you say:

I don't use them and try to be careful of this, but with children on the ps3 too, do you think it could be interesting and possible to have an option or plugin to check homebrews ps3 installations (we nearly know all them) and blocking their start or them when triangle option is used?

Regards.

That was tried like 2 years ago :)
First by the usage of a psnpatch payload to intercept the fileopen and the execute syscalls which would look into a blacklist.txt file (containing the apps to block).
The changing cobra code itself to directly support this codes.

But these approaches meant changes to the syscall table which would be reverted when psnpatch disables syscalls or, if kept, would be against psnpatch policy of restoring the syscall table as in OFW.

For all this, and some instability in the code, KW gave up on it.

Hi,

I am having an issue with the latest PSNPatch release.
With the plugin installed, my PS3 will randomly freeze at boot (roughly every other boot, I have to hold power button for 15 seconds to turn it off, and it asks me to restore the file system when turning it back on).

I haven't been able to reproduce this freeze with either no plugin installed, or the 2015.11 one. I'm running Rebug 4.81.1 (in REBUG mode/CEX XMB) on a CECH-2503B and I don't have any other plugin installed besides webman.

Is there a known fix/workaround for this?

So psnpatch 2017 + the bundled webman 1.45.04 freezes ?

The code changes in psnpatch from previous version are only at the remote control level and syscall disabling, which is only affected when you press the shortcut.

I suggest you try to update webman to the last version using webman updater

(Edit)
Are you running with cobra enabled ?
Do you have both psnpatch plugin and webman plugin running ? Or just webman ?

I installed webman 1.45.08 and that did not end well, the XMB would not load and I'd be stuck with an empty screen with the wave in the background. Ended up reinstalling the firmware through recovery and I don't seem to be getting any more crashes under any circumstances anymore. Kinda weird since the firmware was freshly installed from this morning (HDD replacement). Go figure...

Thanks for the help.

Hummmm ... there maybe something more. Keep sharp. ;)

That wasn't what Joonie asked...
He asked if the bundled webMAN-MOD 1.45.04 & the psnpatch 2017/1A plugin freeze when installed together....

Nope. Working fine here.

The bundled webman is webman-mod compiled after adjusting flags.h to force lite version, English only, no extras.
So avoiding any duplicity in functions, smaller memory footprint and a pkg with both (let's call them) essential tools. This should provide an easier install for less experienced users.

;)

Hi, I want to convert to DEX (to use trainers by @haxxxen) but I've always been on CEX (for a few years) and I've recently took the plunge and decided to connect to PSN after never using it on my CFW PS3. I've been using PSNPatch + Plugin now with a spoofed CID+PSID to protect my original CID+PSID, but I just want to know how I would go about being as "safe as can be" whilst on DEX? Also, can I continue to use PSNPatch to spoof my CID+PSID?

Thanks!

Wait for @kokotonix answer but as far as I know only thing that is not working on DEX is PSN locking. Rest is fine.

You can continue doing on DEX what you are doing on CEX. Psnpatch will work in the same way except the psm lock but wMM can lock psn too anyway...
Don't worry too much. You are fine in DEX with the same setup. Cex idps must be spoofed anyway, a DEX idps does not work with np environment.

As long as you don't mod online or cheat online, the ban risk is next to 0. However if you use mods online, be prepared for bans.

I don't know if PSN lock was a feature that worked previously on DEX using PSNPatch but it would be great if it worked again. Anyway, I was only considering DEX as @haxxxen made a few trainers that I asked if he could make in his trainer thread but seeing as I'm on CEX, I can't use them. I suppose if I went DEX I would need to update some homebrew for DEX (e.g. RetroArch)? And nope, I don't mod or cheat online at all.

No need to change your homebrews, everything should work the same.
A handful of games may require you to tweak the boot mode in Debug Settings but apart from that, you should not have any problems.
Ask us if you have any issues.
