PS3 PSNpatch updated to v2017.01/A - New Improvements from KW

It has been awhile sine we have seen PSNpatch updated by developer KW , but now the dev is back with a new update for PSNpatch, providing some new improvements. First change we see in the plugin is a suggestion by psx-places own atreyu187 for support for using PS3 Media Remote / multiple controller ports. Also this update is important for disabling your CFW (syscalls) as we see the emergence of new syscalls there is a need to disable them is a need to disable them for a proper CFW disabling for in theory a much safer experience when connected to PSN on a CFW enabled Console.

PSNpatch has alot of great uses and abilities, one of the many great functions and features of this plugin is that plugin will actually not allow for a PSN login / connections unless you have disabled your CFW syscalls. For full feature set and how to properly use the many features be sure to view the Official Documents in the PSNpatch Support thread in the forums.

  • Hi Guys:

After more than 1 year there is an update to PSNPatch !!!
Yes. it was a lot of time. But the tool is stable and working with every firmware version

Anyway, following some users requests, changes were made to support the PS3 Media Remote in the application and updating the list of "cleanable" CFW syscalls.
So, here it is the first 2017 version !
    :)

    2017.01/A
    • Added support for multiple controller ports including PS3 Media Remote;
    • Updated syscalls cleaning list to include syscalls 15,200,201,202,203 and 204
The full list of LV2 syscalls disabled by PSNPatch is now: 6,7,8,9,10,11,15,20,35,36,200,201,202,203,204
    • Includes webman-mod 1.45.07 lite version for cobra and non-cobra systems (for optional installation).

    HAPPY NEW YEAR !!!

If anyone has anything to report or an improvement request, please use the psx-place forum: http://www.psx-place.com/threads/psnpatch-releases-usage-information-official-support-thread.11176/

What you call xmb addon is the category_game.xml files I was telling you about... Lol
There are 3 of them.
I believe the first letter means
c for cobra
n for non cobra
o for original

Edit: @kokotonix is right. This is not psnpatch update support really. Please create your own thread if you need more information.
This time I understood. lol
@Kokotonix
ok

That happens because you use psnpatch to disable syscalls but you also have the plugin installed.
The plugin detects something messing with the syscalls (this case is psnpatch app but it could be any other home brew) and does all the disabling and spoofing.

If you have this particular need of sometimes disabling only syscalls and other times doing also the idps spoofing, you should uninstall the plugin and use only the app.

Ohh yes, of course, very logical. Thx for the hint.

BTW, i have one or two ideas for PSN-Patch.
I will post about that soon.

Greetingz

How do you mean? I have tested the last psnpatch thoroughly on Rebug 4.81.2 during the CFW pre release tests & I found it to work flawlessly except for locking PSN in DEX...
Are you using the plugin or the app?
Are you in CEX or DEX mode?

When you trigger psnpatch (using the app menu or the plugin via gamepad combo), history gets deleted, syscalls are disabled.
If syscalls are disabled, some homebrews may still launch but most features won't work.
Backup managers like multiman/Irisman etc... will warn you about the syscalls situation & start in limited features state.

Can you still mount games? If you can, syscalls aren't disabled properly.

You can also use SEN Enabler 6.0.4 to check the current syscalls status. If syscalls are properly disabled, the "See PS3 data" feature in SEN should display both lv1 & lv2 syscalls disabled.

Also I suggest you update wMM because there is a bug in the syscalls code in 1.45.09 that leads to issues with movian buffering & probably other problems. This particular bug is fixed in 1.45.10, Aldo corrected it & a few other problems as well.

Home brew will run but probably not as it should.
For instance, you shouldn't be able to mount games with syscalls disabled.

This is as it was meant to be since the beginning of psnpatch...

Homebrew runs because vsh is modified to run unsigned ELF, which was also allowed by modified loaders on CoreOS.

PSNPatch doesn't run because it uses peek/poke (which you disable with PSNPatch) to search syscall tables due to its FW independent feature

Dude!! Your my hero I didn't know SEN could do that. I often have issues with this. This will make my life so much easier!!

sorry guys my phone sucks, and wont let me type.
i hadnt tried to load anything. 2 days before this i updated my CFW to starbucks, and updated Mm and webman. i then got a error about signing in, saw that aldos posted a fix and i went to github and got v.10 , updated cfw again to of course REBUG, lol. so thinking all is good, i used PSNpatch and signed in. worked. decided to make sure by running SENenabler, and einstones CCApi. both ran then i tried psn patch and syscalls were disabled. from what i just read above, things have changed in vsh? not using any plugins.
confused, is it still safe to use PSNpatch (as safe as it can/was?)
thanX in advance and sorry for the delayed response

It's all the same as before...
Sen will load but not run properly, just like before.
Ccapi is totally unnecessary except for modders.
Psnpatch works exactly in the same way. Why don't you use SEN "See ps3 data" feature to ensure that all lv1 & lv2 syscalls are disabled?

This is as it was meant to be since the beginning of psnpatch...
but you can just uses deans fix as far as i know which is added since 4.60

and auto fix is used debug to retail 4.21+ and higher

Sorry. I Didn't understood. Please rephrase

Edit:

Note that what I meant in my previous message was to say that it is expected for honebrew not to work properly after syscalls are disabled.
And there is no way to reenable them after being disabled by psnpatch (unless you keep a plugin running with an attached specific payload for that effect)

Why cant i boot Ps3 games after using PSNPatch?
-load game with webman
-wipe history
-Press X in PSNpatch
-boot game to black screen/crash

Please report issues in psnpatch support thread.
Looking to your description and without know firmware version, webman, psnpatch version, game format etc ... I ll bet in one of the issues detailed in psnpatch docs and faqs.

But more info is needed.

All running just fine here.

Ok will do when I get home, I've also tried mounting game with latest webman mod.
They work fine both methods until I use psnpatch.
