Question about ps4 installed pkgs

Hi guys, is it possible to copy PKG game file from PS4 to PC over ftp before extracting it to external usb?
I found the same size of game as a pkg file after dumping it , extracting it takes a while and that's why I'm asking you for that as I found app_pkg which I suspect it's the game file, any idea?

yes, the app.pkg is the game. afaik, every game pkg is renamed to app.pkg at installation, then maybe (don't know for sure) decrypted in the mnt partition. I say that only because dlc and themes are decrypted in the sandbox folder, which I think is connected to the mnt partition kinda like the user partition containing profiles, themes, saves, etc. altogether this is all speculation based on testing and what I've read.

btw, I heard that the app.pkg and the original game pkg you install have just installed have the same md5, so the system may only extract the metadata information, rename, the pkg, and then it's done.

there's ps4 pkg linker by @pink1 , which I believe does what you're asking.

So it's possible to grab that pkg file through ftp to PC after dumping game disc without a need to decrypt it on ps4 to usb

I'm not sure. on the ps4, there's a folder named appmeta (just like with the vita). it may or may not know that something is off if you do that. that's one of things pkg installation will create, appmeta from the pkg. I know that there are multiple databases which get rebuilt if something is updated, so it may not do anything or the game will need to be reinstalled to the app database. I've never personally tried that. I've heard that rebuilding the database will make all games, with a debug license, disappear from the system as they're seen as non-legit.

I have made a dump file of a game disc, I can see it over ftp as a pkg file the same size of an actual disc but it can be run now without a disc from internal HDD, I have it also on external HDD as files after ps4 decrypted it , should I remove it now from PS4 internal HDD then rebuild it again on PC to install it or there is a way to do that over ftp so I don't have to remove it ? And by the way I don't know why the patch folder is empty has no files or folders ?

game data is recorded during installation, so transferring over a game without installing it won't work. I'm thinking that it will force a rebuild database on you, which could result in all games disappearing. the reason I think that is that it happened to me when I was fooling around with the savedata database. there are ways around that though, because I was able to transfer over my main save to its correct location,. I was able to update the db by just saving over the save that was currently present. I'm not exactly sure what prompted the rebuild of the database that one time, but it didn't seem to affect anything. I guess the rebuilding of the database rebuilds the savedata.db, notification.db, app.db, and appcont. it might include the trophy database as well. in the case of the save database, the system only rebuilt that database. I have looked at the app database. I have no idea how it uses position on the home menu, 'cause it's a giant mess. I guess to you'd have to know what each number means. ;)

I never installed the game disc, I only started it then minimized it while it was being dumped so did you mean the dumping process installed it on ps4 HDD?
It looks now pkg file same as another game I installed from debug menu but the difference between them the one dumped from disc can't be run without a disc, so I assume you are telling me that I should remove it from ps4 HDD to rebuild the decrypted game files then install it again!

the system won't allow both retail and digital to coexist, so it will ask you if you want to delete what's installed. I noticed that the switch doesn't do that, the game, whether digital or retail will just be saved over.

I saw this message, somewhere, but since I can't find it, I'll just place it here (hope you don't mind) :): psp uses rifs as well. it was originally needed i1.n order install adrenaline actually. I do have a tutorial on downloading the smallest (half--minute hero) demo that exists (3MBs). ;)
