Info Updated August 2019:

Advanced Power Options for all CFW & HEN

Now works on HEN and CFW so I have changed the name to "Advanced Power Options" and increased the version to v1.10.

Changes:
  • Used a sprx that is signed with 3.55 keys to work on HEN

For CFW users there is no need to update, no other changes.

HEN and CFW users, Make sure you have dev_blind mounted to install this. Otherwise you will get a 8001003A error and it will fail to install properly.

FYI HEN users: The shutdown option is the only one that will work without HEN enabled. If you try to use the reboot options it will kick you to recovery, if that happens just press the PS button.

This installs a Boot OtherOS pkg to dev_hdd0/packages/ obviously that is only for CFW so if you dont need it, or are on HEN, then just delete that pkg or just leave it there.

Adds options for rebooting, rebuilding database etc. Also installs Boot otherOS pkg (CFW only) to dev_hdd0/packages/, install that if on CFw and you need it, otherwise just delete it.

This calls the poweroff plugin in a different way, so it does not ask for confirmation, the confirmation is not required as we are already in a sub menu (thanks esc0rtd3w for the tip)

Optional: After installing this you will find a Boot OtherOS pkg in your package manager, install that if you want that to show at the bottom of the Advanced power options menu.

The Boot otherOS pkg will only work on CFW, HEN users can just delete it.

Thanks to Mysis for the original xai plugin, @kozarovv for the installer and reload xmb app, and thanks to @Bobby_Downgrades for the original idea.

I think the options would be better ordered by frequency, the most frequent used is "turn off system" so it should go at top, this way when you want to turn off system you only need to "click" several times in it (brainless, no need to read the options)

1)turn off system
2)hard reboot
3)soft reboot
4)reload xmb
5)advanced options

I thought about that, but they are in the order of frequency for me. I never really turn off from that menu, almost always hold the PS button as its quicker.

I could make another version though.

I think most users probably reboot more than shutdown? So many things require a reboot/XMB reload. Adding 1 game for example.

IMO I like the current order, except the option "Turn Off System", that I'd prefer to have it outside (at the same level of the submenu).
I know that would break the concept "Power Options". It could be changed to "Restart Options"

I understand that, dont forget though, this is calling the official poweroff plugin directly, so before you would have had to confirm shutdown, this way there is no confirmation, Entering the menu is confirmation enough that you want to do something so i see no need for it. So really its still 2 press's of X away (plus a couple of down press's i know).

I might release some variations of it, I would like to see if the boot other OS package can be fixed or turned into a file operation for xai. Then I might release an update.

You could just remove the option 'power off system' from the sub-menu, and keep in the XML the original power off that has the confirmation ;)

Well, i think removing the confirmation is a good idea regardless of menu placement, when is the last time anyone hit off that by mistake really? and if it did happen once in a blue moon its not a big deal. what do you think? this is not a mod for kids, it will be more advanced users installing something like this in the first place.

I might include the impose rco mod with the ps3 image (from DECR .090) in next update. I suppose that will cause panic in the streets though as its not OFW feature :) it only adds about 4kb to rco and i think its cool, what do you think?

@DeViL303 can i translate it for you?

Thanks for offer. But Im not sure if i want to get into that tbh. it requires main rco changing which makes it firmware specific, its a nightmare, every little change then requires 20 people to provide translations, then people cant agree on translations etc.

If you want to translate a version for your own use just edit the xml, or release a translated version in your language if you want to.

Decided to do it like this instead from now on.

Power Options:
  • Reload XMB (Optional package built in, install to add)
  • Shut Down (no confirmation)
  • Soft Reboot
  • Hard Reboot
  • Advanced Options
  • >> Reboot into a Database Rebuild
  • >> Reboot into a Filesystem Check
  • >> Reboot into Recovery Mode
  • >> Boot into OtherOS (Optional package built in, install to add)

CFW Power Options v1.04

This is the final layout, a compromise.

Power Options:
  • Reload XMB (Optional package built in, install to add)
  • Shut Down (Default option if no reload pkg installed, no confirmation)
  • Soft Reboot
  • Hard Reboot
  • Advanced Options
  • >> Reboot into a Database Rebuild
  • >> Reboot into a Filesystem Check
  • >> Reboot into Recovery Mode
  • >> Boot into OtherOS (Optional package built in, install to add)
Thanks to Joonie for the Boot into OtherOS package

Read the rest of this update entry...

With this one, if you dont have the reload pkg installed, then Turn off is default, its still 2 press' of X to shutdown like normal , so best of all worlds really. :)

If you prefer other layouts see v1.01, v1.02, v1.03.

DOWNLOAD v1.01 Original layout
DOWNLOAD v1.02 Aldostools layout (turn off icon outside of the menu, confirmation on)
DOWNLOAD v1.03 Sandungas layout (turn off icon as default inside menu)
DOWNLOAD v1.04 DeViL303 layout (See images attached and video)

Reload XMB needs to be on the top or bottom really, as it has no info line, so looks out of place otherwise.

I think Reload XMB will be the most used option, For me, i definitely need to do that a lot more than shutting down.

It's a shame because a very nice gadget would be nice to have translations into all console languages of all options, even otheros and reloadxmb entries.
It could also be useful in the advanced option for rebug / starbuged to enable and disable cobra
Code:
        <Table key="cobra_mode">
                <Pair key="icon"><String>/dev_flash/vsh/resource/icons/cobra.png</String></Pair>
                <Pair key="title"><String>On/Off</String></Pair>
                <Pair key="module_name"><String>xai_plugin</String></Pair>
                <Pair key="module_action"><String>cobra_mode</String></Pair>
                <Pair key="ingame"><String>disable</String></Pair>
                <Pair key="bar_action"><String>none</String></Pair>
                <Pair key="lbl_half"><String>1</String></Pair>
.
.
.
<Item class="type:x-xmb/module-action"    key="cobra_mode"        attr="cobra_mode"/>

Well, Maybe if Sony stop releasing updates, and this gets refined some more, so its "Final" , then we could think about it. If RCO could be universal (apart from red and blue icons for rebug and standard cfw)

If you wanted to start a multi language version project now, and start collecting translations, I will help you with it. But i am already moving on to think about the next project. :)

P.S I like the idea of the "Reboot and Toggle Cobra" options, Nice one. That will be in v1.05, although that will make it Rebug specific, which i dont want to do, i can try to come up with a universal command for xai.

I really liked this project, I would not have to use xai.xml and custom non-matching options for network categories. All "ps3 restarting" options and switching some things will be in power option, its beter place for this features.
