PS4 [Research]PS2 emulator configuration on PS4

Im having issues getting Socom: Combined Assault to work correctly. I keep getting a grey screen when any firefights happen making the game unplayable. Below is the config I am using that allows the game to boot. I added clamping which is below the line after looking at some configs for pcsx2 and it would not boot after that. I am using the same Emu from the Tutorial from May and I keep hearing about the Jax emu and I cannot find these files.

Any assistance on this would be great.

Hello, first at all many thanks for all your work guys, I been following this section from the beginning. As someone who didn't had ps2 I find amazing can play on original hardware?

WelI obviously logged for an issue, I'm trying to fix Klonoa 2.
I was who suggested --fpu-no-clamping=1 for how to fix for misplaced objects in the psdevwiki.
The thing is at that time i was using a very deprecated emu "olympack" date "20150901" which I got from a very know site from one of the very first tutorials...
Well, now I tried with "RogueGalaxy" emu and to my surprise the game no longer show graphics errors in cutscenes.

But now I can't fix the misplaced items, I tried with:
#eeClampMode = 3
--fpu-no-clamping=0
--fpu-clamp-operands=1
--fpu-clamp-results=1

and,
--fpu-no-clamping=1
--fpu-clamp-operands=1
--fpu-clamp-results=1

...
--fpu-no-clamping=1

and the objects are still displaced or are gone at all.

So I ask what should I try, I have these clues:

1-
Serial = SCES-50354
Name = Klonoa 2 - Lunatea's Veil
Region = PAL-M5
Compat = 5
eeClampMode = 3 // Objects appear in wrong places without it.
vuClampMode = 2 // Fixes water reflection.

#comment=You must change the EE Clamping mode to Full when playing the Klonoa 2 demo to avoids misplaced objects.
#comment=You must change the VU Clamping mode to extra when playing the Klonoa 2 demo to fixes reflections issues.
#comment=You must use the ZeroSPU2 plugin when playing the Klonoa 2 demo to avoids bad/missing sounds.

2-
#Reflections
#Go to Config/Emulation settings > VUs > uncheck preset > set clamping mode to [Extra+Perserve Sign]
#Misplaced objects
#Go to Config/Emulation settings > EE/IOP > set EE/FPU Advanced Recompiler Options > Nearest

I still don't know if the emu needs a fix for water reflections.

I'm sorry if my english sound rude, It isn't my first language.

Is actually Rogue Galaxy V1 emu. And from my tests is only one that work for Klonoa 2 fix.

In that case do you know if there isn't a way to implement this?:

Flashing or garbage textures
  • Status: Active
  • Type: Minor
  • Description: At certain points of the game and especially during the train cut scene at the end of volk city the Textures will randomly flash and change around to garbage textures or wrong colors.
  • Workaround: Reducing the EE cyclerate in speed hacks can alleviate it at -1 or 75% speed but still doesn't completely remove it. Reducing it to -3 or 50% speed will fix nearly all of the flashing textures but with the risk of game slowdowns. Inversely speeding up the EE cycle rate will make the texture flashing much worse.
I can't get the game work with pcsx2 (have an old laptop) so I can't replicate the bug to see if is the same.

I think this is not issue that affect this game on PS4, anyway you can try --ee-cycle-scalar=0.5

If it hang at pic1, then emu not support this command.

You were right, that wasn't the issue.

But to make work that command had to use bigger values, for example

--ee-cycle-scalar=0.5 or --ee-cycle-scalar=1 didn't have effect
--ee-cycle-scalar=50 were to slow that I didn't wait to the namco screen logo
--ee-cycle-scalar=100 seemed to be double speed ,which still was to slow but at least managed to convince myself that this wasn't the issue.

As note aside I managed to change the emulator with a patch but have to be carefully with no supported commands on olders emulators in config-emu-ps4.txt

Hello , is there anyway to limit cycles per microprogram ? and wich is the utility of this command "ee-precompile-trace" ?

There is a command, but I don't know the values and whether they'd be helpful to you;

Code:
--vu1-mpg-cycles=2500

That's from the official PS2 Classic fix for Bully/Canis Canem Edit.

Thanks , i've tried it with scarface and it little reduced game lag caused by this code that keeps recompiling :
microVU1: Cached Prog = [13065] [PC=34b0]
  • (Cache=20,217%) [12,3mb]

this may sound a bit stupid but can anyone help me get GUI 1.0.0.11 working so I can try the Jak emu?

I got the actual program to run but it doesn't allow me to add config files. I click it and it doesn't do anything at all.

Also, is there a place to grab the different emus by themselves?

thanks.

I don't know if you even can change the emulator bundled into GUI, the last time I checked GUI it had Rogue emulator built into it, but I've heard some talk about the latest version having Jak? I don't know, I haven't been able to check it.

Ok, thanks for the reply. I'll do a bit more digging. I hear 1.0.0.11 has Jak emu but I can't get it to take config files atm.

I'll do that. I already asked for some info and he helped me out but I didn't want to bother him too much. Seeing that he asked for any issues I'll shoot him a message. Thanks.

I big reason is that I also like to learn for myself. I'm new to this but really prefer to learn rather than ask for everything to be solved for me.
