PS4 [Research] PS2 Game Status on (PS4's - PS2 EMU)

Okay, just tested... this time with the Jak emulator and not only does it still have the red issue, but now it performs worse also. FMVs stutter with audio crackle and music sounds sluggish in-game :\

(ignore the commented code, it's just easier to keep everything in one config file for swapping between games :D)

Hmm, okay, will do! I'm just reinstalling now, made a fresh new PKG.. "Just In Case®"

~edit~

Hah! Just In Case apparently was the case... I remade the PKG and deleted/reinstalled and now it's working, no more red crud. FMVs have annoying audio crackle now but egh, oh well. Funnily enough, PCSX2 actually has a hack for Silent Hill FMVs, switching to software mode for them, but I think that was due to graphical corruption and not stutter.

Some more tests today :)

Drakengard 1 (terrible framerate, <50% speed, audio crackle)
Drakengard 2 (fine performance, missing graphics on some NPCs, no dragon wings, and also invisible objective items)
Fire Pro Wrestling Returns
Ys VI Ark of Napishtim
Robotech Invasion
Robotech Battlecry

Urban Chaos (terrible framerate, probably <50% speed)

Plus the previously tested and confirmed Silent Hill 3 + Silent Hill 2 DC (honestly, it's 99% fine, just some minor FMV audio stutter) I think I need to go through my wiki additions and make a mega-post in here listing working games. I realise I've been neglecting to keep THIS status thread updated too, sorry! So far I've tested and confirmed working, with or without fixes, 120 titles. Probably more that I've forgotten to do writeups on. Heh, good times :D

~edit~

Oh and I checked out Alpha/Vampire on PCSX2, just for the sake of it, and the GS usage was insane! 60-90% GS usage during play. It's rare to see games be that demanding, especially for 2D sprite-based games, I've played Soul Calibur titles that don't push the emulator as hard :D

Dont worry in making things pretty, keep rushing, you are doing it great, sometimes rushing is the way to go :)

You will have time to step back later, because inevitably there will be a point where the speed of your discoveries will decrease or freeze temporally, but by now is better to rush
Is like when entering in a cave with lot of treasures (and you want to catch them all o/ )... the tactic is to grab first the small ones as soon as posible :)

Haha, very true! Hell, a lot of the games I've brushed off as having major/minor issues could quite possibly be fixed with any number of commands, but that's outside of my skill range.. :D Just throwing games together, testing them with a couple of PS2emu templates, and then reporting whether they work or not :D

Auto Modelista
Berserk - Millennium Falcom (english)
Conflict: Desert Storm
Conflict: Global Storm
Contra: Shattered Soldier
Dark Cloud
Dark Cloud 2

Deus Ex
Enter the Matrix
Fatal Fury Battle Archives
FIFA Street 1

FIFA Street 2
Ghost in the Shell (SAC)
GrimGrimoire
Hyper SF2 Anniversary Edition

Killer7
Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver 2

Phantom Brave
Project Eden
SWAT - Global Strike Team
The Red Star
The Terminator - Dawn of Fate
Terminator 3: The Redemption

Auto Modelista's menus are all kinds of screwy corrupt, if it wasn't for the fact that every option has a verbose description at the bottom of the screen, you wouldn't be able to navigate the menus at all. As it stands, it's a minor annoyance. The only "major" issue with the corrupted menus is that you can't tell which car manufacturer you're choosing until you select it and see the cars themselves.

Deus Ex has some very minor graphical glitches, a slight flicker to some light sourcing and a pseudo-transparent square at the end of firearms. Nothing major but it's there.

FIFA Street 2 has some graphical corruption on the preview photo of the stage/arena you select to play in. Rest of the game is perfectly fine.

Ghost in the Shell: SAC has some minor graphical issues, mostly heavy aliasing on character models despite running 2x2 uprender. What makes this unplayable is a progress-blocking glitch preventing you from opening the first door in the first area of the game. PCSX2 has an EE patch for this, I'm going to mess around with ps2dis and see if I can't translate the EE patch to EmuMediaPatch :)

Killer7 has some minor graphical issues.

Legacy of Kain - Soul Reaver 2 also has minor graphical issues, in that characters far away from the camera - such as your own character, Raziel - have quite a bit of graphics corruption on them, seemingly like a weird dithered transparency issues. These problems go away when the camera gets close enough.

SWAT - Global Strike Team has major graphical issues, the screen goes completely grey when you first start a mission. Also, the audio in the background, behind the grey screen, sounds scratchy and slow, I think there might be severe performance issues even if you could get the visuals to work.

Terminator - Dawn of Fate has some minor graphical corruption, a bit of texture flicker from time to time and base on different camera angles. Also I think I caught a glimpse of SPS sometimes, though it could have been geometry popping into existence at extreme camera angles.

Is mipmapping issue, but gs-kernel seems to not help. :(

Is weird issue, i tried many solutions, but still nothing.

Different upscaler should fix gfx issues. About doors issue, patching this is terrible. :D Seriously, is biggest code i ever meet. But there is a example from PS3, so I try to port it at work if i find time. Here is patch from PS3 :D :

Aha! So... known issues then? :D Wow, that GitS patch looks *insane* too! :o
Yeah issue, is known long time. Btw. Best comment ever:

Haha, no doubt, it's not a great game xD Terminator 3 Redemption, on the other hand, is surprisingly fun. I wish I'd given it more of a fair shake back when it first came out.

I sorted it out! :D

Code:
SLES-53020_config.lua

apiRequest(0.1) -- request version 0.1 API. Calling apiRequest() is mandatory.

-- Potential fix for broken interactive door // Rearranging COP2 ops so as to avoid macflag bad stuff

Thanks to your informative and easy to follow/understand post here, I was able to find the correct opcodes in the ELF and convert them for eeInsnReplace -- and it works! No more non-interactive door. Still need to sort out the incredibly grimy/aliased characters though, I tried EdgeSmooth and Point, no difference, and I only know of one uprender mode... 2x2 or None. I'm guessing it's a game issue though, because looking online at PCSX2 footage - even with 3/4/5x uprender - shows the same jagged/blocky characters. The world geometry looks good though :)

Thank you! :D Now I'm just working on the flickering polygons/etc on the character in Killer7, as well as trying to sort out the dithering-style corruption in Soul Reaver 2.. though having no luck at the moment :\

~edit~

I.. uh... also notice that my posts are "Awaiting moderation" now, that's new xD

Fixed Killer7's polygon vanishing issue using clamps;

Code:
--vu0-no-clamping=0
--vu0-clamp-operands=1
--vu0-clamp-results=1
--vu1-no-clamping=0
--vu1-clamp-operands=1
--vu1-clamp-results=1

For now I throw in the towel on Soul Reaver 2, I simply can't seem to find the right commands - or combination of commands - that stop the strange transparency/dithering issues, so I've been testing some others, mostly all working out quite well... except Mega Man X7. That's a no go due to sped-up and garbled audio. A known issue in PCSX2, even in the very latest GIT, and the only fix is to run an positively ancient version of SPU-2X plugin.

I've tried the oldest PS2emu template I have, no go, and I also tried Jak/KoF98UM, no go there either. Seriously weird audio bug.
