PS3 Resigning Rap files from exdata

this feature needs more advertising. I've looked before about updating cobra and didn't see anything about sen enabler that i can recall.

As a noob compared to you guys in this field I want to ask a genuine question.
If I was to take a 4.82 firmware and spoof to 4.87 with SEN enabler and unspoof to keep the 8.20 cobra payload but be back to standard CFW. Would I theoretically be able to littlery take a copy of my flash folder directly from my PS3 and "rebuild" the firmware pup using PUAD, thus making a modified version of 4.82 that can auto generate rifs??

Yes, in theory. But to be honest with you I would not recommend messing around swapping payloads and making new PUPs as a noob. The Cobra payload is one of the only things on dev_flash that can lead to a full brick if you get it wrong, afaik there are no fail safes included in Cobra 8.2. At the end of the day you would only be saving saving yourself the bother of running SEN Enabler.

Also PUAD has issues repacking Cobra PUPs afaik, it breaks PSP and PS2 ISO support or something like that due to changing file permissions.

I have an E3 and I'm not so much of a noob that I don't know my way around the system and what not.
I fully get what your saying though mate.
Just though it would be cool to have a firmware on 4.82 that had the 8.20 payload.

I started this thread to try and learn more about how it all works and why, you guys amaze mw which what you know and do in the scene even now, so hopefully my original question may have sparked so interest from the cobra team and @Evilnat that maybe it could be added to the lower firmwares and how it's done documented or shared, even if it is just for a personal learning experience

it's the tarballs, I believe, that break psp and ps2 compatibility. they've been fixed in puad 2.0. I've already tested it out. one great thing about it is that it now allows you to decrypt whatever files you want, specific rco or sprx, instead of all of them at once.
