RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

I noticed this too @sandungas and wondered exactly the same thing, if I swap the relevant .png files around would it fix the icon issue and is the accept/cancel option related :confused3:.
Replacing the PNG files would be the easy way, but is not the correct solution because the ozone icons are fine
If at some point this retroarch version is submitted to the official retroarch team, this is the kind of "dirty hack" they are not going to acept :D

Im not so sure if is doing that, i made a test to verify if is loading the string "input_device" from inside the .cfg and it doesnt

1) Uninstall all previous retroarch versions
2) Install retroarch beta#3
3) Use managunz filemanager to replace "SixAxis Controller.cfg" by "PlayStation 3 Controller.cfg" (my version with 9 strings modifyed)
4) Boot retroarch (this is a fresh boot, the first time retroarch boots)

Note im changing the name of the cfg file... but the notification that appears at bottom left corner in a floating window still tells... "SisAxix Controller was detected"
So is not loading the string "input_device" from inside the .cfg... that text seems to be hardcoded somewhere

It's useless change name file because Retroarch recognize PS3 pad as "SixAxis Controller" device. "SixAxis Controller" string is built in in source code, so if you want change it we have to change it in sources. When you save the Remapping of PS3 pad, retroarch use the name of device (SixAxis Controller) and add ".cfg". Then if you change that name file, retroarch will ignore it.

The info file for 81 is not being recognized by RetroArch for some reason, meaning you can't actually load any content with the core.

There is a zip file in the info folder, taking up a whopping ~600 bytes. :)

In the bottom-right of PIC1, there is...chick butt. While I am a big fan of that sort of thing, there might be some users here with kids that would not appreciate that.

I think it could be because the name of the SELF, actual name in beta#3 is RETROARCH\USRDIR\cores\81_libretro.ps3.SELF
Try to rename it to 81_libretro_ps3.SELF

*note i replaced a "." by a "_"

Yeah, i noticed it too, in path RETROARCH\USRDIR\info\mgba_libretro.info.zip
It contains the mgba_libretro.info (but this file already exist), so we can delete the .zip

Dont miss the other at bottom-left corner

Fixed 81_libretro.ps3.SELF on download core.

Menu Option not useful for PS3 (that i can see)
  • Ozone View (could be in others as well, likely) User Interface >> Disable Desktop Composition
    • Will not create a black screen freeze but scrolling through the options will disable the video (black screen) until you scroll back to the option. I do not see any use or benefit for this on the PS3 port, that does not mean there is not, but i only see a potential of a "wtf" moment for someone :). So that may be one to disable in next update.

thumbnails download fixed.
Not working for me? Anyone else have it working?
edit: Works, i should of red the full text as it clearly mentions to download and load the core.
Using last beta#3 now you can download Mednafen PC-FX core and if you start it (load core) you can test Cursor and thumbnails download fixed.

Edit: seems to only work when that core is loaded.

that is the psl1ght version of OFFICIAL retroarch.

this thread is about a MOD of an older, non-psl1ght version.

That's not the pslight version... it contains 48 cores built using the SDK.

All the cores in that PKG are already included in the CE, except these:
mednafen_supergrafx_libretro_ps3.SELF
stella_libretro_ps3.SELF
tgbdual_libretro_ps3.SELF

So if the one to to the link that I posted is the psl1ght version or not... then which one is it? lol It is being updated though as you can see the date it was uploaded. Heck, it was just updated again.

All cores are Novermber 18th 2020 old.... and i suppose also Retroarch layer....at least they have resumed building an old version, better than nothing.
I will add stella.... mednafen supergrafx is there.

This weekend i was able to compile and start vitaquake2... just software rendered (opengl need at least ES 2.0) and without audio. Performance are poor. I will not add it.

The nightly folder is a bot that compiles the latest version every days (even if there are not changes).
