RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

Because it works on another platform does not mean it will work on the PS3.
The PS3 and your Laptop have a very different architecture.

Those core's were never available on the PS3 years ago as you mentioned,

Mednafen PS3 does have a yabuse core within it, You can test it out. but i will save you the time and say do not bother. It will run the Bios slowly and will not boot most games, Bubble Bobble will boot and play but is super slow and is a very SIMPLE game that struggles.
Ok... :(
thanks for the clarification STLcardsWS

@Crystal

I noticed that they ignored the questions you were asking them in that github picodrive issue.
I think severals devs walked away from PS3 architecture (who can blame them) and the ones that are still around just dont want to invest time either into this console (who can blame them)
Im not an informatic specialist , i just know that the PS3 CELL PCU is more powerful than what was expected years ago. we was able to play such many thing that had the reputation to NEVER been playable on the console. everything (to a certain degree) is fesable (like having game like saturn or dreamcast running on retroarch) but its too much work-time for the very small community that continue to use the platform. Upgrading/convert the PC cores (Yabause or Flycast for exemple) is fesable but the work just DONT worth the time considering 90% of members passed to PS4 and PS5.

I totally understand crystal , aldostools and other devellopers now. (again...who can blame them)
If i had such skills and talent and time to give to the diminuing SMALL PS3 Community i would had probably took my retirement years ago.
For their support I will alway say a big thanks you , they helped me a lots of time.
...now im in peace and totally understand the PS3 scene situation.

Lets face it , we all have to move one day or another to PS4-PS5to have access to maybe better jailbreak/homebrews
I hope that the talents / skills that was developed by olders devs here and elsewhere will not be lost by the youngest devs ( I hope)

Me im not here (buying a PS4-PS5) I will probably die not having played what i have on my good old PS3.

I arrived very very very LATE and was totally BEHIND when i arrived here but with the support of many members i learned things that ALONE i would not have been able to do so in 20 years !!

But I totally understand the situation and wish to give a BIG thanks you to all devs that passed on PSX-PLACE and are still around :)

Big Thanks & wishing you the best into each of your personal lives !

@John1971

I won't probably get any newer PS console(s).
The thing that ruined it for me was the obsession with Sony (and MS) making the internet a requirement just to play games. Very anti-consumer.

The reason why is most people have the internet nowadays and they care more about appealing to newer gamers than ones like
me, who prefer offline gaming. Another thing is how most of them also couldn't care less for local multiplayer.

The funniest thing is that if and when the internet goes out due to power issues, server issues, modem issues or some other reason most modern games that require the internet will be useless. Most games before that generation were more or less pro-consumer where you just put in the cartridge or disc and play.

The newest consoles I have are all three of the seventh generation. And speaking of PC, I messed around with Windows 11 (not knowing what it exactly was) and must say this the worst UI I have ever seen. I thought 8 was bad but this is a whole new level of pathetic.
Why do they try to re-invent the UI almost every time now? Why can't they just stick to the best ever design that Windows 7 and it's predecessors had?

It seems MS now only tries appeal to people who have no clue what a PC is. I am not insulting anyone who has 10 or 11 though.

Yeah, there's this N64 emu for PS3 that got abandoned a long time ago, got resurrected, then apparently abandoned again...https://www.psx-place.com/threads/n...surfaces-9-years-after-first-announced.29604/

Does anyone know what emulator this is?
the video description is "As far as we know, SEGA Saturn™ Station is the only project that emulates SEGA Saturn™ for PlayStation© 3 in real time with HD resolution of 60 fps."

The channel has a lot of videos running Sega Saturn games @full speed

It would be nice for a full speed Saturn emulator on PS3 considering the difficulty of emulating said machine.

The only good Saturn emulator I know of is SSF.

Nonexistent v1.0 - Just more Fake video's..
This is to easy to spot. You should know how easy it to create XMB art and then when it goes to black screen. To put to the bios with some editing.

Did you not notice a gameboot ? It's cut off.
Also do you see an In-Game XMB?

Nothing but a money grab to fool you.

Mednafen PC-FX core?
Was it removed from beta 4 version, right?
I cannot download it online, but it is mentioned in the description of cores...

And another question, is it fixable when you quit a game that you return to the game's playlist and not to the start row of retroarch?

I dont remember this core at all. Maybe i forgot it.....

next question: you dont need to quit a game to return to the game's list...L3+R3 in-game menu... CIRCLE button to exit quick menu and back to main menu.....

Hi. Great work by the way and thanks for working on retroarch for our old PS3.

I think what eightiesmod means is that if I select a game from a playlist ( say "Super Mario Kart" from the Nintendo - Super Nintendo Entertainment System playlist ). When I exit the game retroarch is supposed to take me back to that entry in the playlist. It works this way on the PC version, the Android version and the Xbox One version.

Unfortunately this behaviour means having to go all the way through a list again to get back to the same game entry you started on.

Thank you..

Unfortunatly to avoid many other (greater) problems, Retroarch for PS3 needs to be restarted to flush all resources and works correctly after a game.
