RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition)

PS3 RetroArch CE (Unofficial - Community Edition) Beta 4

because it's not that simple. it's a lot of work for a dev and now n64 emulators run everywhere (android, ios, handheld etc). if you want you can try to open a bounty and maybe some dev will be interested

Not exactly, in many emulators the emulation is not perfect yet

Why would I put a reward for an N64 emulator for PS3? I'd rather wait for someone to decide to do it And I know that it

is not easy to make or fix emulators, especially since I am a programmer. I only have that doubt, why does no one even try to do something with something that is already released?

I'm not a programmer but I think the problem is the lack of dynarec

But now that we have it, we just need to get the developers to rebuild the emulator with it.

you know how developer of ES-DE for android, where it order to get beta releases and further updates you have to pay into patreon, they should do the same for ps3 RA update cores or red dream emulator etc

*** Been trying since forever ***

Mame 2003-plus and newer is supposed to fix Mortal Kombat 2+3 shadow issues.
RetroArch CE and also 1.9.0 supposedly have the 2003-plus libretro core but.... the shadow issue still exists.
It doesn't exist in the FinalBurn Neo emulator but.... the game is super choppy and unplayable on that core.

Does anyone have a fix for this?
Does the 2003-plus core need to be updated or optimized?
The PC/Android cores fix the issue and run great but PS3 doe not.

Ive tried everything!
Anyone that can run MK2, MK3 or UMK3 at full speed with shadows, please let me know how.
I'm happy to donate $50 to anyone that can get it goin :D

Thanks in advance!!!

@Crystal is there anyway that we can get updated Mame cores please for PS3? Preferably Mame 2010 or later. I am trying to run killer instinct 1 and 2 arcade versions and both are super sluggish/slow and laggy on Mame 2003 and Mame 2003 plus cores. It would be much appreciated.

Killer instinct is a interesting case to run on a ps3, unless crystal give an answer if its possible or not, killer instinct will be a heavy game, even for normal retroarch you will depend on pc or phone specs, but i cant truly say this is impossible

He already is not possible to update the cores anymore.

Why do you think updating the cores would fix the performance issue?
you better chance of decent performance it's with mame 2000 and Mame 2003 extreme But I think M2000 is already available for PS3 and runs the same as M2003

There is also MAME 2003 Extreme which is a core optimized for mini consoles. But you'd have to port the code to PS3 and I doubt anyone would bother to do that. And there's no guarantee that this will make the game playable either.

People have to accept that there are certain things that the PS3 will never be able to run properly due to the system limitations. Only the Xbox Classic has been able to emulate KI full speed

It would be interesting if someone tried to fix them, that there is a way to make them work properly, Killer Instinct must exist but as the one above said, someone is needed who wants to try to fix it, there are ways, just dedicate yourself to trying, the PS3 has good potential, it's just that it's the most wasted console there is.

Hello, I've got an unexpected situation where having used the Import Content -> Scan Directory, I have all of my expected ROMs showing up under their Playlists (System Name), launching fine, and showing up in history fine.

However, 2x of them, Mega Drive and the 32X, 32X being a sub-folder of Mega Drive, do not show up in the explore section. Using the same setup on my PC, they do show up, which leads me towards it being something on the PS3 or RetroArch CE. Any pointers for where I should look?

EDIT:
For anyone finding their way here for the same reason, I still can't explain why, but this worked:
  • Point the database directory to a non database folder
  • Delete all Playlists
  • Import Content --> Scan Directory (returns nothing since it doesn't have a database)
  • Point the database directory back to database/rdb
  • Import Content --> Scan Directory
  • Restart RetroArch CE
  • Now all systems are showing in Explore again
So...yeah.

The retroarch team has dropped the PS3 version officially years ago, then came back, then stopped again. IIRC it's because nobody is maintaining it and the team isn't interested/able to debug on ps3
