PS3 some hen and cfw questions (need help)

alright will use Makeps3iso

is it normal for it to take 4 hrs for 25gb?

any other tools recommendation for the jb to iso conversion?

Those things have never been known for great speeds but I haven't converted in a while so I cannot recall whether 25gb/4h is within average or not.

No other tools to recommend really.
PS3 iso tools from Rudi Rastelli is what people use nowadays on pc.

Even for games with many files like i.e Mass Effect series (10000+), this process takes few minutes... On HDD.

Console side backup managers. The best idea is to creating *.iso from original discs, because You will kept LBA order which in some cases can be important.

That's what I have always done. All my ps3 game backups are dumps made console side directly from discs years ago using Irisman's makeps3iso. It's definitely not a quick process though!
Many years ago I remember using genps3iso for a spell but very quickly stuck to Estwald's implementation.

  • On PC creating disc image from files using makeps3iso is quite quick. Even on HDD (~100MiBps), on SSD is far faster because of ~400MiBps and very high iops.
  • On PS3 creating disc image from files is also quick, yet we have deal here with lower speed like ~60MiBps.
  • On PS3 creating disc image from disc is as much speed as read disc speed (but for some reason, I never cross the ~10MiBps; multiMAN).
BTW: good to see You again commenting on forum. ^^

So i did borrow an external hdd from my brother

I put 12 ISOs in the PS3ISO folder in external Hdd NTFS

Multiman loads all the 12 iso nicely but webmaN with prepISO only loads 6 iso. I noticed the iso that webman failed to load didn't have game menu images when checked in multiman

For any webMAN-MOD issues, you can use the dedicated threads or mention @aldostools here or in a new thread.

update: after loading all the games one by one via multiman, webman started recognising them as well

the big issue right now is with MGS4 and MGSVTPP
MGS4 is stuck at now loading and MGSVTPP failes to install data
I did a fair share of searching and found people saying an updated version of makeps3iso.exe should fix the problem

is that the real fix to the problem and where do i get that updated makeps3iso.exe ??

How this question is related to the title thread? Forum is not a chat or Discord channel. It is database with order, or at least pretend to be.

I am extremely sorry

I just saw this and i panicked. You guys are the best guys that might know about the issue so i was looking for a quick response

Again, extremely sorry for this

In theory, one thread for one problem, or one thread for few related to each other problems. Thanks for this rule, in most cases, You don't need to digging out through thousands commentaries on different topics, while You looking solution for specific one, which search crawler have output, depend on queries. Otherwise we have one category and one thread. ;)

Yup
Thats how i like it as well

Thanks to this thread, i was getting quick response from the best people. I cant thank u guys enough, i have learnt so much. I look forward to help other people with whatever i have learnt in this forum. Also, i removed those paper that were there for additional contact and i re-did the thermal paste. The console is noticably running cooler now, hopefully it stays that way for years to come. CHEERS

@sandungas @bguerville @Berion

please see this : https://ibb.co/xm5S9sd
https://ibb.co/smyJ6yw

so the back side of cpu and gpu has a piece of fat paper pasted on it (maybe for better contact)

i opened this used ps3 slim to reapply thermal paste because it was getting hot (now i wonder why)

should i keep it like this or should i remove them?

Yup

The "stuff" added for CPU was supposed to be made as explained in this thread, is not a "paper" but mostly like a squared "bump" of rubber
https://www.psx-place.com/threads/t...l-dissipation-without-removing-the-ihs.23066/

And the other stuff you had in GPU.. yeah... it was mostly like a flat "sheet", it doesnt have much mistery

Both things was intended to increase the pressure in the heatsink assembly, and now that you removed them the pressure probably have decreased a bit, but the new termal paste improved the heat transfer

-------------
If you already removed them keep the PS3 like that
If at some point you want to add them again take some time to read about it and do it well
