I was able to get HAN on my ps3 when I got it a time ago, but the previous owner did not format the system, easy to fix just format the system myself right? Reinstall the latest firmware, and that's it I thought. Oh boy, how wrong I was. The ps3 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth did not work before hand, but since I have the ps3 at my desk it's easy to just plug a Ethernet cable and the controller cable. Apparently, the software install I guess checks for the BT module, if it's not found you will get error 8002f1f9, and the ps3 will be stuck until the module is fixed.
Anyway, so far I have tried to remove the HDD, format it on my computer, then try to reinstall the OFW as some posts on other sites said this work for them. It did not work lol. I found another post that said to use ps3mfw to remove the BT check on the software, and that worked for them. Unfortunately this can't be done on the latest firmware for some reason about keys I don't completely understand, also p3mfw gave me an error when trying to remove the checks.
Fast forward to like last week, I saw on reddit about an new exploit being released so why not try that? Again formatting the HDD, instead of installing the OFW this time I tried with the new Hybrid Firmware released, and still got the error. I tried removing the BT check from the Hybrid Firmware with ps3mfw, but it gave me the same 8002f1f9 error. I tried removing this check with ps3mfw, and it gave me the same errors as the latest official firmware.
Any thoughts as to what else I can try? I have though about preloading (I don't know what to call it) the latest firmware into the HDD using a friends ps3, to bypass the firmware update, thing is no one I know still has their ps3, and wouldn't then "updating" to the hybrid one still give me the BT check error? Can I preload the hybrid firmware some way into the HDD to bypass the installation through the computer?
BTW thank you guys for doing such awesome work to those that contribute to homebrew, and those that maintain this forum. The info found here is invaluable.
Hey, im gonna explain what i do in this case. Use translator cause i don't know english.
MOD EDIT (Next time, provide an english translation):
Well, I've had the same problem. My console version unfortunately for you, is not the same. My console is CECH-2501A
Try the method of unplugging the hard drive while it's updating about 80 times, looping basically. I reached 99% several times. I think it can work, but it's more a matter of luck than technique. I explain why you want to try this method. Basically, when the PS3 updates, it reads first and then writes. At the time of writing the LED turns off or flashes, just at that moment or when changing from reading to writing, we are going to disconnect the disk for a few short seconds. And it may work, something that doesn't work for me at all.
Here is the solution that has worked for me, I reflowed the bt wifi component. and it worked for me the first time. It was my first time doing a reflux. I did it without flux, although after several hours, the module stopped working, but it helped me to make the "bypass" one. Silly me, who wanted to update to CFW 4.90 Evilnet, unfortunately I was left in the loop for not choosing the NO BT NO BD version, after so much trying, I formatted my hard drive, and put it in my PS3, grabbed a USB memory , in FAT32 format and download the CFW version 4.90 No BD BT, which is "Supposed" to not be done, in the end I was able to install the update and I am using the console. I don't know much about HFW, CFW, or the console itself. Maybe it was luck, but I had fun reading this forum, so if anyone in 2024 has this problem, here is my solution.
