PS3HEN [Support Thread] PS3HEN Bugs, Problems, and Other Issues

If anything, I have a 480GB Kingston SSD. All this is strange. Works fine, but when the crashes start, I reinstall the firmware and everything works fine again.

I repeat, the PS3 IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH SSDs.

Your drive is fine, but the console does funny stuff with it and doesn't work properly. You will get black screens, database corruption, partition table corruption (hence the FW reinstall prompt, among many other problems).

The SSD compatibility with the PS3 is not documented, with only some success cases being reported in this thread: https://www.psx-place.com/threads/guide-ssd-for-playstation-3.42499/

Best alternative: don't use SSDs on the PS3.

Understood. Thanks for the answer and advice.

OK thanks.

I'd be surprised / disappointed if it's a HDD failure - 2x HDDs on 2x separate consoles. The latest, albeit used HDD, has only been in the console for 2weeks after a full write/read surface test with HD sentinel.

Looks like I'll have some learning to do to get a decent log then, thanks for the pointers. If I'm successful in obtaining that, am I best to upload it into a reply here for advice?
That was the first thing that came to mind was a failing HDD. After thinking about it more though, the HEN logs cannot gather info when booting and getting that screen over and over again, so that may not actually help in your scenario, unless there is something that shows in the logs that would be helpful to your situation, while hen is actually enabled.

You can post logs here if you want. Maybe some info there.

Hi all, I have encountered a boot loop problem on 2x Super Slims now. I suspect triggered by any one of the number of hard power offs I've had to deploy due to crashes.

Long story short, I appear to just be able to cancel the error and it loads up fine, but it's a bit annoying and seems like a bug rather than a hardware fault, having occurred on two different consoles here...

Below is 1) what I'm running on, 2) what I've looked at to try and clear it, and 3) the homebrew I have installed.

Any pointers / forum links would be most appreciated!

[/SPOILER]

Click item 2 in the recovery menu, this usually helps if there was an error in the software. If it doesn't help, change the hdd

Nice, that's done the trick, thank you!

Hopefully after I've finished testing / setting it up and it's steady there won't be as many crashes = not happening again, but it's great to know that process will clear it. The number of settings needing to be customised again were low, the main one being deleting the act files and reactivating the console.

I keep getting frozen screen on after i try to instal my ps3hen.
I used the file on ps3xploit to update the ps3 to 4.91 hfw and after that i try to instal hem via the auto installer and it keeps freezing on when it succesfully loaded. I tried to add the boot_plugins.txt and it did nothing still having the same issues.
Tried to reinstal the update and the usb said that ther is no update found. While the file is in my folder. I cannot find any other solutions.

Hi, thanks and sorry for not knowing where to post my problems with HEN.
I've been using CFW since 2010 and han-hen since it came out, my problem that I have (and many more) is the following:
game: god of war
PS3: 4.91 HEN 3.3. 0 Super slim
launcher: multiman and webmanMOD
hard drive: in good condition
game format: folder and ISO
problem: https://www.reddit.com/r/ps3homebrew/comments/sjjovu/god_of_war_3_sound_problem_help/?tl=es
the curious thing is that it happens more on a console with HEN and while the old ps3 with CFW don't have this problem (as far as I know) and I have a slight suspicion that it's the friware (official or hybrid) or it's the Cobra mode of HEN
Tests done: change hard drive, on 10 different PS3 consoles, external and internal, redumps, clean dumps.
It only runs well in physical or PKG format...
