[MENTION=129]blazinsmokey[/MENTION] both files need edited for REBUG (category_game.xml, category_game_tool2.xml) did I not edit them both?

No just one file. I can't remember what CFW you initially did it for but it was early when COBRA was released. Not REBUG. It only required the one file category_game.xml and it worked up until now. I finally caved and wanted to try REBUG for the first time. Now it looks like there may need to be edits in 2 files from the comments. I have just downloaded Metion's upload and will test later tonight. Haven't spoke to you in a while, hope all is well.

i modedd them from Rebug 4.75.1

I downloaded but I have class soon so I will check it out later. Thanks a lot. Hope it works. Very appreciated.

fyi [MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION] and [MENTION=20]habib[/MENTION]
i have made now addtional tests to relocate cobra ps2netemu payload and successfully moved it to different and much lower address.

on 4.21 it works fine using base address 0x3958 in ldscript.ld (unused empty space)

the code change i have done on netemu_gen421
Code:
#define CODE_SECTION_ADDR		0x283B18
#define DATA_SECTION_ADDR		0xB20F80
#define PAYLOAD_ADDR		(CODE_SECTION_ADDR-0x2801D8+24) /* CODE_SECTION_ADDR - DISTANCE_0x3940 + 24 to align to 0x10 */

i have done some quick tests on 4.75, but there it seems it reloads in a loop. maybe you want to take a look into it and make usage of it, since the current used space for the payload is much too low. another advantage would be of course, it is much easier to port it further.

code change netemu_gen475
Code:
#define CODE_SECTION_ADDR		0x28F800 //
#define DATA_SECTION_ADDR		0xB20A00 //
#define PAYLOAD_ADDR		(CODE_SECTION_ADDR-0x28BEC0+24) /* CODE_SECTION_ADDR - DISTANCE_0x3940 + 24 to align to 0x10 */

I would like to see a Rebug VSH Menu included in a future release. BTW [MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION] Do you know how to set the dark theme of XMB. I know it changes based on nights/days.

actually don't want to add any more external plugins to REBUG, plus not everybody uses it. Good news though [MENTION=17]Orion[/MENTION] is working on updating REBUG VSH Menu to add more things :)

My last private build can detect console id and disply it in vsh menu
The last function to add is the swaps of kernel but for this i need more tester with flasher

Rebug using 2 VSH, VSH DEX will load category_game_tool2.xml and VSH CEX will load category_game_tool.xml

Thank you, sorry for my bad english.

To be more precise about the XMBML files edition...

CEX XMB loads the contents of root "view_id" from category_game.xml
DEX XMB loads the contents of root_dex "view_id" from category_game_tool2.xml

With this i mean there are others "view_id" inside the files... but belongs to other XMB modes (like arcade PS3 models that loads the contents of root_arcade "view_id" from category_game_tool2.xml)
For rebug is needed to edit one "view_id" (and only one) in every file... in case of doubt or if you are editing with an automated process you can edit the others (for arcade, shop, etc...), is ok but is not needed because will not be loaded in rebug ever, actually the best you can do with the others "view_id" is to delete them to reduce the size of the file (for efficiency freaks)

Can be seen better in this table Template:PS3 XMBML Configuration Files - PS3 Developer wiki

The same with webMAN and its included, but it has an option in Rebug Toolbox to toogle on/off for those that like/dislike.

[MENTION=29]Joonie[/MENTION] i'm searching how to enable write on dev_flash to change webman on toolbox, but i dont see the option, can you tell me what option i have to activate to change the plugin? Thanks in advance

Confirmed and working, like we had any doubts... :embarrassed:
You are awesome! Thank you so much.

Heads up for anyone else interested in removing /app_home/PS3_GAME/ for CFW REBUG 4.75.1
1. Enable dev_blind which mounts /dev_flash so you can read and write (you can do this with webMAN or multiMAN)
2. Navigate to /dev_blind/vsh/resource/explore/xmb/
3. Backup or rename "category_game_tool2.xml" and "category_game.xml"
4. Copy over the new xml files provided by Metion

You can do this with webMAN in the settings it says Enable /dev_blind....
Or multiMAN in settings it's at the last option or second to last option.

can anyone bring back the xmbm+? if possible. ty

i've tried, but it doesnt work... always i try to replace the file for the new one, my ps3 freezes... so i think that only works when activated by toolbox app

I didn't try in webMAN but I know for sure it works in multiMAN b/c I just did it when I replaced the xml files without app_home.

Make sure your using the latest multiMAN, it does it on the fly, doesn't require restart.

You need to restart Filezilla or your ftp client though, literally close the program and reopen it and reconnect after you enable it in multiMAN.

To make sure your understanding properly, you are copying to the folder /dev_blind not /dev_flash. The blind folder is the flash folder mounted with the ability to read/write, they are in essence the same folder.

Were you on previous COBRA CFW and not REBUG and updated to this CFW? If so delete boot_plugin.txt and web_server.sprx in /dev_hdd0. Reinstall this version of REBUG, enable COBRA and webMAN with toolbox, then copy over your new webMAN with instructions given above.

ahhh so you change the files with filezilla! the way that i was trying was changing with multiman browser! I'll try it and give feedback soon ;)

Thanks for you help!

Just installed 4.75.3 and everything is great except the PS store wants me to update it to the latest version. I've been enjoying the old version the past few days, any suggestions on how to bypass the update?

I also noticed the toggle QA flag is not available now?

Take the old newstore_plugin.sprx from 4.75.1 then you will be able to bypass the store app. You need to learn how to replace files in dev_flash though

What do you mean not available ? What toolbox version are you using? You should use either 2.02.05 or 2.02.06

Any good threads you can point me to about replacing files in the dev_flash? I'm new to ps3 modding, been doing it on androids and ijunk for years though.

I'm using whatever toolbox came with the latest 4.75.3 firmware, I'll need to go check version info, but I'm heading out the door in a second to my grandsons birthday party.

EDIT: just checked and it's on 02.02.04, I'll update.

__base = 0x3958;
Yeah I just defined payload address 0x3958 and extended header/footer in elf the same way that [MENTION=20]habib[/MENTION] has been doing and it works fine :)

Thanks for your finding!
