Tonyhax International

PS1 Tonyhax International: Backup Loader For All Japanese, USA, and PAL PS1 Consoles/Early PS2 Consoles v1.6.3

Does Tonyhax International secretly support all PS2 models (even SCPH-90XXX?) Probably? The reason the original Tonyhax doesn't work past 39004 is because the unlock backdoor no longer exists, and the cdrom controller bios is reported as Japanese. Apparently my console detection was written well enough that it already works for 50XXX+ and PS2 slims, so really it is just a matter of testing it out myself after a few reports of some people saying it works. Got a SCPH-50001 on the way so I don't have to mess with all the lid sensors of the PS2 slim (just a DVD faceplate removal). But really you don't even need to do that if you have mechapwn. It makes more sense to compliment it. Someone mentioned that a non-stealth mod-chipped console with mechapwn would find it useful to use the Tonyhax International Boot CD to play protected games. And now that there are other features (freepsxboot compatible format ability, gameshark codes) it sort of makes sense. I never really bothered because of mechapwn existing before.

OK, so SetSession does not seem to do anything at all on SCPH-50XXX PS2s and up with different IOP So everything works except CD Audio games don't play CD audio. Bummer.

I have quadrupled my RAM in celebration of the Tonyhax International 2 year anniversary! Every release was built on this laptop for the past 2 years. I never could imagine how far we took this program as a community. The bug reports, hardware bug fixes succesfully implemented, the surpassing of it's predeccesor in features.

alexfree updated Tonyhax International with a new update entry:

Version 1.5.6 (10/6/2024)

Changes:
  • Now that I actually have a GameID compatible device (Bitfunx PSXMemCard), I was able to further test GameID support (which was originally developed and then tested by others before implementing it into the official releases). I noticed that for some games which do not have the boot file in the root directory (i.e. TEKKEN3\SLUS_004.02;1) the extremely long filename causes some invalid characters in the index.txt of...

alexfree updated Tonyhax International with a new update entry:

Version 1.5.8 (10/10/2024)

Changes:
  • The loader now resets memory card/controller polling to a clean state during initial start up. This fixes a bug that caused the ROM entrypoint to not detect GameID devices, since the BIOS is initializing the memory cards and controllers so close to the loader taking over execution from the BIOS. Thank you @kimbapslice for bringing this...

Well... L. S. Oliveira once told me, that calling the MechaCon Unlock commands in PS2-mode does not work or not unlock the drive.
Otherwise it should work for PS2-CDs at least and DVD would need to be tested!

Whenever there is a new tonyhax international update, do I need to update the tonyhax loader only for my memory card, or do I also need to update the save game entry points too?

If it turns out all I need to update is the tonyhax loader related files, then that is good to know, thanks in advance!

So I have a 101 and I put the BIOS-4.4-2000-03-24-A image on my MCP1 and it worked, but when in the TonyHax menu it said my BIOS was v4.5 05/25/00 A. Should I switch to the BIOS-4.5-2000-05-25-A image to avoid any issues even though the other one worked and booted discs fine?
