PS3 HAN [Tutorial] How to install PS3 Backup Games (Converted) on PS3 with HAN

Hi , my name is TAK
before we go into the tutorial let me say what actually happened
i guess all of us are happy with the release of the PS3Xploit Team's Project HAN (which now supports up to 4.84 with the new HFW , check their topic about it) , people were successfully installing PS1/PS2/PSP games however a lot of people including me were confused about PS3 Backup/Converted games .. Some people did use the PKG Linker by Devil303 to install full packages but some people (like me) didn't have ETH cables to install them Directly. WIFI was so god freakin' damn slow and it was cutting the connection in the middle of it. so if you are planning to use the PKG Linker with Wifi i guess you can stop right now :D or buy an ETH cable and connect PC to PS3 Directly (or with a Router device like TP Link and etc.)
anyways back to the tutorial

So since i wasn't able to install the converted backup's PKG with the pkg linker i just did split the game's files manually on separate folders and made PKGs for them (in this case i used PES2018) and then @DeViL303 and @kozarovv (ABSOLUTE MAD LADS) gave me a great idea to make it work which we will go through it but before that here's the normal PKG Linker tutorial for those lads who have the ETH cables
  1. download PKG Bat Master from here : https://github.com/nikolaevich23/make-pkg-bat
  2. download a CFW2OFW Game Converter (any of them should work)
  3. convert the game just like past methods - the game should be compatible with CFW2OFW tho
  4. then put your converted game Folder (NPXXXXXXX) to same directory as PKG bat master
  5. run bat file and it will make 2 PKGs for your game , first one is LIC PKG and second one is the GAME
  6. put PKGs on PKG linker directory
  7. run PKG Linker and let it get the new PKGs to list
  8. click on File -> Save List PKG and XML
  9. then it will ask Resign with PS3xploit-resigner for OFW? tap on YES
  10. on PS3 side , Enable HAN
  11. (if you using PKG Linker for first time then you have to install Package_List.pkg with USB if not then skip this)
  12. go to HAN Toolbox and Refresh Package list (install the pkg there) and reboot PS3
  13. your new PKG files should be on the list - Enable Debug PKG with HAN Toolbox
  14. now install your game and LIC PKG
  15. Enjoy .. you can now install Update game manually or download with console itself ;)
and here is the tutorial i was talking about
BUT REMEMBER: SPLIT PKG USB METHOD WILL NOT WORK IF YOUR GAME HAVING A FILE HIGHER THAN 4 GB YET. which means if you have a game file that is over 4gb you just can't push it into your FAT32 usb drive.

  1. check if your game is having files higher than 4GB coz if it does then you can't go with the tutorial (you have to go with PKG Linker method)
  2. if not , download PKG Bat Master from here : https://github.com/nikolaevich23/make-pkg-bat
  3. download a CFW2OFW Game Converter (any of them should work)
  4. convert the game just like past methods - the game should be compatible with CFW2OFW tho
  5. now make some parted folders like NPXXXXXXX-1 and 2 and go on...
  6. in all of those folder , you should put all the game files except LICDIR (in other words , just let it be in first part but remove from other parts) and USRDIR .. so you should have PARAM.SFO and all that there in all of them
  7. once you did create a new USRDIR in Part 1 and put game files there and make sure folder size is not getting more than 4GB
  8. do the same to other parts , for me , i made some 1GB parts (some 2GB regarding to the file sizes)
  9. now that you do have game files (converted one - not original) in parted folders .. you should open PARAM.SFO from part 1 .. change game category to Game Data and save it
  10. do the same thing in all PARAM.SFO files except the last part , last part should stay Original
  11. now grab EBOOT.BIN from Update file and put in every USRDIR in folder parts
  12. make PKGs for each folder with PKG Bat Master
  13. you will have all your PKGs + LIC PKG
  14. copy them all to a FAT32 USB
  15. on PS3 side , Enable Debug PKG with HAN Toolbox
  16. go to Package Manager and install from part 1 to last part ... then install LIC pkg
  17. your game should show up in Game Menu
  18. now u can reboot and install Update game manually or download with console itself ;)

Hope You enjoyed it :D
and Correct me if i am wrong in any part of this tutorial.

Nice tutorial man, I didn't have time to make one so your help is really appreciated.

Good luck dealing with all the questions that'll come tho :D

Oh yeah and you should add some download links for the tools, it would be easier for everyone

EDIT : Guess you're talking about this tool : https://github.com/nikolaevich23/make-pkg-bat

thank you for the link... i'll add it to the post :D
however the tool i used didn't had the PS3Xploit signer on it .. so this one you posted is a modded version

we need a tool to do this xD
@Alex_1985 had already done this but it doesn't work very well, the tool doesn't change the param.sfo and doesn't copy eboot.bin in all the usrdirs

Good tutorial. Btw you can even install updates with this. Cfwtoofw creates a seperate folder which includes the updates. But anyway this is very tedious compared to installing pkg and you should use it only if u can't find pkg of the game

Yeah add that to the copying to USB time, and then installing, and its probably closer to 30 minutes per game. Man CFW and ISOs are so cool, can just run them straight from my PC hdd. :)
this gets me thinking of something, can ps2 classic games write to the hdd? think of an FTP HAN compatible server xD

Hi! Any chance you could point me to these missing steps for the param, eboot and user dirs for disc rips? Thanks!
Just so you know, If you have pkg linker working you don't need to do any of this splitting stuff, its a lot more tedious. Just mentioning this because I thought I remembered you saying you had it going.

@DeViL303 Thanks, the pkglinker works great! I happen to find some pkg that allowed to me install and start the game (EA sport titles), but they seem to only be trials/early access. I guess I need to something more than just sign them with the tool. Hence why I thought I might have to do with eboot/userdirs/etc

Ok, yes, this is not the info you want though, this is only for disk games. its most likely you need to look into creating rifs for your games with the resigner, check out the new resigner tool and its thread:
http://www.psx-place.com/threads/ps...ert-psx-ps2-psp-for-ps3xploit-han-v3-0.16764/

@DeViL303 I always sign the and generate a rif file for all my pkgs, but maybe you're referring to some new feature of the tool? These pkgs works great on the CFW and PSNpatch on my other system, so they should be good.

Im not sure, it does have a new feature of creating rif pkgs so you no longer need to inject via the website. Im not sure after that though, there are a few tutorial popping up. Some better tools will most likely come out over next few weeks too.
